Do not sign up for summer camp here! They advertise that they will do activities and crafts everyday(they did one craft all week), that the kids will get an air conditioned break inside(would not give kids any breaks inside until I complained about my son complaining about being hot and not getting to take any inside breaks and then limited each kid to one five minutes break inside), they advertise that they will be learning a bunch about animals and get to see the zoo everyday(they didn't not go inside the zoo at all, and only got to learn about animals that are already common house pets, nothing about zoo animals or the wildlife my son was execited to learn about), they instuct you to bring a refillable water bottle but don't ensure that any of the kids are staying hydrated or even refilling them even though they're keeping them outside in the sun all day with no breaks. I am so angry that we wasted the money to take our son to a camp that he was excited for only for him to have a negative experience and specifically asked to not to come back to this camp again next year. This zoo used to be really nice and have great friendly staff and good programs but now everybody they've hired doesn't care and most of the full time staff are very rude. After this let down of a summer camp, and the rude zoo staff, I will not be renueing our family membership pass as we have done for the past three years and have no intentions of coming back this year even though our passes don't expire until February next year. I advise everybody reading this review to not sign up for any of the family passes or the summer camps, and be prepared for the zoo kitchen staff and animal caretakers to be rude and unhelpful, the front entrance staff to the zoo are the nicest of any of the zoo staff and even they have left a sour taste in my mouth. The park employees are great, all zoo employees are definitely not. Would recommend to visit the park only until they hire new management for...

We visited the zoo yesterday. It was our first time and we came from Tallahassee so nearly a two hour drive. We were happy to see the educational signs, efforts to keep us safe during the virus, and conservation efforts. There were several animals we haven't seen at other zoo's like the black rhino, Bactrian camels, red kangaroos, and coati. The reptile house and alligator swamp were the highlights for our reptile loving 5 year old.

Overall, we had a good time BUT there were some major concerns. We happened to come on a damp day in between rain storms so the wooden walkways (half of the walking path) was extremely slippery. Our local museum usually puts sand down when this happens to protect people. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. We were super careful and still slipped and nearly fell multiple times. Not to mention, the whole place is a bit run down in general. It is a nonprofit organization that obviously isn't receiving the funding that is needed to keep this place in good shape. It has great potential but, unfortunately, isn't receiving the care it deserves!

We were also disappointed to find out that the train was not working which meant some animals could not be seen. This would not have been a big deal IF this was communicated to us before we arrived but it is not posted on their social media or website. We're not local so we have no idea what's happened over the last year. I expect for businesses to update their website so I know what to expect before we arrive. It should be clearly stated on the website that there has been storm damage, the train is not working, and then the closures for the virus.

Anyways, we did the whole walking loop twice to make it worth the drive. We arrived around opening time and the animals were all very active. We really did have a great time but we will not be back until the...

Nice quiet camping. We stated 5 days but on the 4th night we were told to move our tent to out front of the treeline.... ik nit sure why on the 4th day we were told to do so. We were in the area since we do remodeling on homes we were passing through for work and stayed there. We are advent campers. We love camping/backpacking and obey laws. We never put nails or anything in trees because it kills them. It scars them and so with that being said, they asked us to remove our dog run which was paracord tied professionally around 2 trees! A little research will allow a person to realize that that doesn't hurt a tree. So we removed the line and tied our dog to our truck and moved our tent up 10 feet to near a leaning tree that will fall soon on the picnic table and more. That morning before all of this occurred after 2 missed calls from the camp office, we noticed a telephone pole laying almost in our site and a huge smashed up television sitting right on the treeline along with trash! And we couldn't camp in a more shady opening in the treeline to also avoid the obnoxious restroom lights! Anyways, bathrooms were pretty clean with hot showers... that's a plus but with the money being made there they need to have their septic pumped because the water lays out back of it and it stinks also the bathrooms could use a fresh painting. But don't cover the old paint wirh new. Do it right! Pics below are a little wacky but my tent was ok where it was for privacy too. Pics of a nail in the tree not from us our paracord not bothering anything and a TV...

I had previously visited the zoo more then 10 years ago. I was disappointed to come back and being my son and see that probably 10 percent of the animal exhibits were just abandoned. There was even an exhibit that looked like it was started years ago and they just stopped in the middle of building it. There was a sign at the meerkat exhibit that the last one had died off but most of the empty exhibits did not provide a sign or anything. I enjoyed seeing the animals they did have, they have cheetahs, alligators, camels, a black rhino, and a few others. I loved the alligator exhibit, I have always thought this was the best alligator exhibit I jade seen any where because you can really see them up close and there are so many. I also loved seeing their bar exhibit, they are straw colored fruit bats and we were in time to see them eat and fly around a little. The park was not very busy at all, we went on a Friday. The signs inside are all very faded and in general the park just looks very fun down. I was so excited to come back after all these years but disappointed to see it was not still in great shape. I would still suggest coming, it is not very expensive and it's fun to see the animals! It is still worth the money but do not expect to need over a couple of hours to explore the whole thing.
