I loved this hike. It is easy enough for a six year old to make it but it was not purely flat. We took the river bed route to the waterfall and it was worth it. The fall was not gushing but it was still flowing enough to enjoy. Lots of about large to medium luggage sized boulders along the path but you can walk the whole thing meaning no scrambling required. The Elevation of the path was mostly flat, but a large decent from this entrance. This is the entrance you want to get a shorter route to the waterfall. Free of course. You have to park on the residential streets, and read all the parking signs carefully because counter intuitively they said no parking on the weekends close to the entrance, but there was some free street parking further...

The hike itself to main highlight of the trail I went on was roughly one hour (2 hour round trip) and can be considered a relatively easy hike.

Went during the time where there was actually water in the canyon so you have to wade through the corners back and forth to advance. Since you're going through water, there are currents that will drag you as you lift your leg so care must be taken when doing this trail.

The water is also super cold, and the river bed is full of round rocks, so you might be in a little shock while going through the river.

No point in bringing a towel to dry off during the trail as you're just going to get wet again, just bring a spare set of clothes incase you fall and a pair of shoes to change into...

We used the Pinecrest Gate to hike to Eaton Canyon Falls, which is just under 2 miles done this way. We found parking on the street where Pinecrest Dr., and Crescent Dr. meet. There were some interesting things to see along the way, which include the bridge, canyon views, the creek with concrete structures, and other man-made structures. The path was a little confusing at some points, but you could still tell the general direction, and the path was pretty rocky. I’d suggest hiking boots, and lots of water. The falls were more like a drizzle the time of year we went, but still a good,...

Great hike for all ages, a little dusty so don't wear your best runners here. If you plan on visiting the waterfall, note that at certain times of the year you won't see much water at all (we went in late October and saw nothing!). You will be required to cross streams of water by stepping on rocks, so take your time and test out each rock for sturdiness before putting your full weight on them. Beautiful colours in the sky at sunset! Would come back to explore different hiking routes besides the one to the waterfall.
