We come here once a year over winter break and the kids always have an absolute blast.
The line to get on the magic carpet / lift or whatever it's called gets REALLY, really long. At full capacity, it'll likely take you between ~15 minutes from the time you get off at the bottom of the hill until you get back up to the top again. Which... for what you pay to go there, means you'll get to slide down between 8-10 times total if you're lucky. That's going continually with no bathroom/eat/drink breaks.
We (along with several others not in our group) were continually reminded to not chain together on run #2, despite the sign clearly being marked that you could chain together. I had suggested to one of the workers that seemed to be getting frustrated because of this at the top of the hill is that the reason everyone keeps trying to do that, is because the sign says we can. And suggested changing the sign (it was a laminated paper stuck somehow onto a wooden placard). she said it was impossible because they were all zip tied in -- they weren't. Well, the placard and posts were, but not the actual sign itself. Anyway, was trying to give them a hand but she seemed annoyed.
Overall the staff was very friendly and seemed to really enjoy their job. One guy at the top was really getting into it and spinning people as they went down. He didn't have to do it, but he was having fun, and it made the whole night more enjoyable for...
Read moreI went with my family in December 2020. I went down the hill with my 5 yr old son, both of us on separate tubes held together. As I was getting up off of the tube someone rammed into me. I fell backwards and slammed the back of my head on the ice. Luckily my son was safely out of the way. The attendant had on top of the hill had apparently let a couple go down the hill too soon. I was discombobulated for about 10 minutes.
I walked to the shelter and let the employees know what had happened. The manager was nice and asked me if I thought I had a concussion. I didn't think I did. She scribbled down my name and number on a piece of scrap paper and told me someone would get in touch with me. No one did. I was surprised there was no formal process that the staff knew to follow. I thought they should at least have an incident report and have a onsite first aid attendant or medic. I chalked this up as an unfortunate accident and we left. I had head and neck pain for about a week.
I was talking to my neighbor today. It turns out they had the exact same incident happen. Her kids' Godmother got rammed into by a group of kids who were allowed to go down to early. They thought she might need an ambulance.
I have been tubing at the Elm Creek Reserve several times. They have a much more organized operation and appear to pay more...
Read moreWe have been here number of times and generally I would give this place a 5 star rating. With that said I will explain my 2 start rating. We went on New Years Eve, and the place has a (based on the website ticket reservation system) a max of 175 people. Well there were at least double that let in for the 2 hour window we were there. With 350 to 400 people in the snow tubing park, the line was so long it took 15 to 20 minutes to get to the top of the hill. So in two hours we got to go down the hill 6 times.... So many people that the amount of people on the magic carpet that brings you to the top of the hill almost came to a standstill. So to pay $100 for my family of 4 to go down a hill 6 times and wait in line for most of our 2 hours was rather upsetting. All I would like out of my poor review is for Wild Mountain to uphold their limits, not doing so directly impacted the quality of their product, and has almost tuned me off...
