Excellent Overnight Stop!

We recently visited the Amarillo Travel Information Visitor Center off Interstate 40, and it was a fantastic experience. The facility was spotlessly clean and had a very safe and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed overnight in our RV in the parking lot, and it was well lit, with visible surveillance cameras, which gave us peace of mind.

They offer free maps and Texas-themed stickers, which was a nice bonus! And right across the street is a Buc-ee’s, making it super convenient for fuel, snacks, and supplies.

It's also good to know that the restrooms and vending machines are open 24 hours, even though the visitor center itself closes at 6 p.m. That made our overnight stay much more comfortable.

Whether you’re just passing through or need a secure, quiet place to stay overnight, we highly recommend this stop. It’s clean, convenient, and traveler-friendly—everything you’d want from a roadside...

This was a very nice visitors center. We were coming from New Mexico and stopped in Amarillo for 2 days. We would loved to have had the information for that area we saw at the center before we got to Amarillo. It makes no sense to us to have this center so far from the western entrance to the state We were able to get information for our stay around Ft. Worth/Dallas area. We are traveling with our 8 year old granddaughter. We are always looking for attractions to take her to. In Amarillo we stopped by the Cadillac Ranch and went to Sam's Club Couldn't find anything else to do there. Wish we had the information that we saw at the...

Very nice place to stop to take a break from the road. Clean restrooms; men, women and a family, nice picnic area to eat or fix a meal, great information for area and state, area of information about Rt 66 activities and happenings, people working there are friendly and knowledgeable about Texas and travel thru the area and along I-40. Note of safety there are signs warning of rattlesnakes in the area these meed to be heede. Also have plaques explaining the animals that can be seen from birds, rabbits or other animals, vegetation of the area and a large information map of areas of interest to visit, camp or have...

Great place to stop and stretch the legs while walking your 4 legged companion. This place is well lit at night and your able to access the washroom from outside after hours. The facilities have always been super clean when we have stopped here. Fair amount of car parking...14 truck parking spots. If your a trucker there are a few places to eat within walking distance if you park here...if you try to avoid the truck stops.

The cleanest travel center I’ve ever been to. Nice folks working the desk and the building itself is very cool. (Like western mid-century.) Definitely stop here rather than a truck stop/gas station! There’s lots of travel info and even what looked to be a seating area inside. Great picnic tables outside with nice sunblock/wind shields. It’s right on I-40 at the edge of town.
