Amherst County Museum and Historical Society — Attraction in Amherst

Excellent local house museum, county historical society, and library with permanent and changing exhibits relevant to the history of Amherst County, including the Monacan First Nations peoples through to the 21st century. Appointments are currently needed (as of 8-23-2022) to visit inside or study in the library, unless there is a public event such as their annual Colonial Day. Normally we stay away from motels and inns; however, this was a rare and great find. Beautiful and modern rooms. Very clean with everything you might need or didn't think you might need. Quick checkin and friendly.
