Dogwood Cafe — Restaurant in Amherst

We actually used to visit all the time. The food was always pretty good. We enjoyed it a lot! Used to, anyway.

However, the last time we went was a year ago because they overcharged us. I thought it was an innocent mistake. We didn't realize when we were there because we were never given a bill, but when we got home, we added it up and realized we were overcharged by almost $8. I called in the next day and the same person that rang me up answered the phone. When I said I thought I might have been overcharged, she instantly remembered me but brushed it off without offering a refund, future discount, apology, or any other type of resolution. Just brushed it off like "oops".

The more I thought about it the more I realized it wasn't an accident and that really did not sit well with me. I didn't say anything more but someone who was with me brought it up about a month later and said it still bothered them. All in all, we just haven't had any interest in returning. It's sad because the food is enjoyable but I don't care to visit or support dishonest business. Maybe the owner has no idea what is going on and maybe the waitress was just pocketing the extra, but I don't care to be the one getting...

Very close to 29. If traveling through worth the stop. I worked in town 3 days and found no reason to eat anywhere else. The Salads and Wraps are great and might be what they do best. Fish Sandwich was better than fastfood but average if rating on that maybe 3. Onion Rings are some of the best, not greasy and falling apart. I heard other people ask a table about their salad and they raved about theirs as well. Would like to try a burger but so far fresh is what they do best. So if you know what to order 5. Very Clean. The Dogwood Cafe is a wonderful little coassic diner style place! Hubby had the hamburger steak dinner & I chose the club sandwich combo. The hamburger steak dinner is 2 quarter pound burgers smothered in grilled onions & brown gravy... EXCELLENT! He chose fried okra & fries...both cooked perfectly! My club sandwich came with fries. The sandwich came with american AND swiss cheese, turkey, ham, and bacon! You just can't go wrong with that! They weren't skimpy with the meats either! We had tons of food and great conversation!
