Puffers could be much better but it is what it is; the only true pond in Amherst. The views are beautiful, the trails are great for hiking and the water does it's job on a hot summer day. Tradition includes swimming across Puffers, jumping off the rocks (which is not allowed) and watching the waterfall.

Huge pro: FLOATATION DEVICES ARE ALLOWED

Fishing is allowed; no picnic tables or grills available.

Cons: students take over sometimes and act inappropriate; smoke/drink/play uncensored music while families try to hang with kids; people bringing dogs to the main beach and allowing them to run around when dogs are not allowed, dirty "sand" and smokers on the beach. Also no true bathroom just...

I visited Puffers Pond outside of swimming season, but it still looked like a lovely local swimming spot. The small beach is inviting, and the hiking trails around the pond are a highlight. The trails are well-maintained, offering peaceful walks through the woods with beautiful views of the water. It’s a great spot for both relaxation and light outdoor activity.

While parking is limited, the natural beauty and serene atmosphere make it worth the visit. Puffers Pond is a hidden gem and a must-see for anyone in the...

Better parking now that the road around the pond has been replaced and made into a one-way. Bike and pedestrian friendly, and pet and kid- friendly, too. Great place to hang out and take a dip on a hot summer's day. Or jog around the pond and across the road and follow the Kevin Flood access trail. Wheelchair accessible. Pond side also had port-a-potties. Good place to write poetry or watch...

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I went there during one of those got days in the summer and I was a really happy camper. If you ate into cliff jumping, please take the time to travel to Puffers Pond. They, have just the cliff for you. The beach and the water are clean, the people are respectful, and there was no loud music. It is also kid and family friendly, so being your little ones, they will also have a good time.

Great spot to hang out with friends near water. Not very crowded, it's quiet and isolated. Make sure to complete the Puffer pond trail which is a 0.8 mile loop around the Puffer pond (walkable from end of April to fall season). On the way, you will also encounter the beautiful Puffer falls. There are also a few marked trails around. They are only walkable around mid April- October.
