Try to go hiking at least twice a week. Love it! Most trails are nicely groomed, and you are not walking in tick infested brush. Save that for the winter months. Have met many friendly travelers and their 4-legged companions. Most hikers and bikers are very respectful of others. Have come across a bear 🐻, 50 or 60 feet off the trail, busy foraging for food. Never felt threatened or intimidated. If you want the best of both worlds, take the white trail. Steep incline and descents followed by level terrain along the lake. 1.5 hour if you go slow and easy.

I walk the part that is in andover on yates road. Its a very spacious trail that is nice and flat for the most part due to it being an old railway. Its a very active trail for bikers and runners and everyone is very friendly. Dont forget to bring the bug spray though because those mosquitoes can get bad. There are also lots of side trails marked by colors. I have not traveled down any of those yet but plan to in the near future. I included some pictures i have taken on the trail.

A beautiful spot. Really serene and peaceful. A beautiful spot. Really serene and peaceful. This place is so underrated! There's miles of trails, several lakes, one of which has small planes flying in and out of, which sounds noisy(and it can be) but floating on lake Aeroflex and having the planes come in like 50-75 feet above your head is really exciting. Also watching the Fire Chopper do water runs is really cool. There's a lot to do in this area!

I really enjoyed Kittatinny Valley State Park. This was my second visit to the park. I took my kayak out on Lake Aeroflex during this trip. The views were pretty scenic with the spring foliage around the shoreline. The planes taking off from the airport were interesting, as well. After the lake, I went on some of the walking trails including the Shale Trail. They were very good. I especially liked the Ruin off of the Twin Lakes Trail.

Beautiful scenery and lots of trails for hikers and bicyclists. The Andover Loop Trail (orange blazes) offers 8 miles of varied scenery, part of which is a rail trail (flat), some moderate hill climbs and then a walk around Lake Aeroflex. Make sure to stop by the Visitor Center to pick up a trail map, use actual flush toilets (if needed) and learn a little about the interesting history of the park.

Was camping nearby. Parked by the visitors center. Trails of varrying difficulty and elevation. Definitely a trail for everyone here. Visitors center had many brochures of other areas near and far. Nice views of the lake and airfield. Dilapidated foundations of old buildings down by the water. Multiple people warned us of ticks and poison ivy. We hiked for over an hour and left unscathed.
