There is a $15 entry fee to access Antelope Island State Park. I parked at the trail head, got out of my car and there were already gnats covering my truck. The trail is a mixture of sand, dirt and rocks. I headed out on the trail counterclockwise and there was just some scrub brush, flowering plants and sunflowers. After crossing the road I dropped into more vegetation, rock outcroppings, birds and lizards as the elevation dropped towards the lake. There are some great views and I did see a male antelope with a couple of does. Major pucker factor - crossing paths with a male bison about 30 yards off the path. Fortunately he didn't care I was there but he did watch me until I got about 100 yards away. Overall pretty easy hike.

Trail itself is in good shape and is a decent hike. The insects were awful! We were immediately swarmed with hundreds of mosquitoes and definitely got bitten despite using strong bug spray. The whole area is just kinda depressing as the lake is very low so you'd have to walk out a long distance off the trail to just reach the water. Scenery is very beige. The park is not a highlight of outdoor scenery for an average tourist. I'd probably skip it unless you just want to be able to say you saw the great salt Lake That said, the wild bison were really cool! Worth the entire trip! Saw multiple herds while driving around and some right near the road.

Fairly flat trail. Slight elevation on East side (by buffalo point road). We started about 5pm on 9/13. Bugs were minimal but mosquitos were still out. Definitely bring bug spray. We watched the sunset while sitting on the rocks on the far West side. Completed the trail in about 8:30pm. So about 3.5 hours, but we took a good 45 minutes enjoying the sunset. The sunset was amazing! Well worth the hike. There's also a rock with two small arches in it as well. We also saw several buffalo on the south side. The hike is something most any casual hiker and even kids would enjoy. Definitely one I would do again.

This is a very nice trail and fairly easy to hike for just about anyone. The trail goes around the Northwest side of Antelope Island. This trail offers sweeping views of the Great Salt Lake. You get to see the lake in a different way and see how broad and vast the lake really is. This can be a very hot hike during the summer so bring plenty of water. The hike is a round trip hike going to Bridger Bay Campground and then cutting over a little South of Buffalo point. But, to me, just turn around at the campground and come back the same way you went to see the beauty of the lake views (and spare yourself the up and down to get over Buffalo point. Look out for the occasional Buffalo. Give them...
