Wish I could give them 0 stars but...1 will gave to do. We experienced an outage last Sunday that completely wiped out our router. Before knowing our router was busted, we called Mediacom to check on the the status of the outage. We spoke to someone from India and They claimed all was well on their end and internet should be back up soon. An hour later, still no internet & our wireless network was not even coming up anymore, so we called again, this time speaking to someone with an Arab accent. They told us there was nothing they could do, the job was marked as "complete" & the soonest they would be able to have a tech out was the FOLLOWING SUNDAY. A whole week away! Well, my Fiance was not having that, and on Wednesday he went down to their office, took our router in, where they confirmed it was indeed bad, and they gave him a loaner router, sent him back home & told him they would have our speed appropriate, tower router Friday & that someone would be bringing to our home & taking back the loaner router. Friday came...No one called, no one showed up. Sunday morning, while my fiance was at work, he gets a phone call about 9 AM, saying someone is coming to our house in 15 min to fix our problem. I was at home, in my underwear, and had about 5 min to get dressed by the time this guy showed up. I explained to him what was going on, to which he replied the router Medicom had given us as a loaner, would handle our speeds that we were paying for just fine and he did not have any tower type routers, like we had before, on his truck. The guy was so annoying, smacking his gum every time he talked. I was trying to do schoolwork and manage my toddler and he kept having to ask me what our wifi password was. He had to call my fiance once to tell him we didnt have wifi on our account (we DEFINITELY have wifi) and then call the dispatch center several times in regards to the wifi and our password being wrong (it was not wrong, he just did not listen even after me telling him a dozen times) and when the nice lady at dispatch told him how to do his job he mouthed off to her saying "I know, I know. Trust me. I've been doing this for years". Long story short, the guy went out to his truck, grabbed an old router, (because apparently the loaner one they gave us had no wifi capabilities) and strapped it in, had me make sure the internet was up, & marked the job as complete then left. Problem was, the old router he installed, was the EXACT SAME ROUTER we had BEFORE Mediacom's Tech Support told us we needed the Tower type router because the one we had, was not capable of the 100mbps download speeds we are paying for. After the guy left, my fiance walked me thru how to do run a speed test on the "new" router (because either the tech saw the speeds and didnt care or just did not run one period!) and to no surprise, our download speeds were a whopping 25mbps and 16mbps upload speed. We are paying for 100 MBPS!!!! So needless to say, I am going to have to march my butt down to the office today or tomorrow and HOPE these idiots have the tower router we were promised on FRIDAY. I am a college student who does her classes online & if we had not had an old router that we found buried in our closet, we wold not have been able to use the wifi and I would have been late on a plethera of assignments. Not to mention the weekly/monthly outages are ridiculous. My fiance has been a customer of Mediacom's for YEARS & this is what we get. Avoid them...
Read moreAnnnnd we're back to 1 star. After 14 months of having Mediacom (the only option for my internet service until we get Starlink) the issue is back and worse than ever. They also had 3 outages in 2 days for 2-4 hours each.
Worst service provider I've ever seen, and they charge premium prices to boot.
Updated Review December 2020: Came back to update to 2 stars. For anyone having long-standing issues with Mediacom, I was able to resolve after 7 months by filing an FCC complaint. This caused them to take the issues I was having with my connection seriously, and they finally sent maintenance technicians out to replace parts on their infrastructure feeding into my home.
It has been running much better, but has begun to degrade again. Giving 2 stars, up from 1. So long as it holds I'll probably update to 3 since they did resolve the issue.
Initial Review August 2020: Absolute worst service company I have ever seen in my life. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Their techs are just like customer service reps and have a list of things to turn off and on and that’s about it. They have been unable to fix issues for the entire community that I live in for 7 months.
When they respond to service calls, they lie about the root cause just to get out of the call. I’ve had no less than 10 service calls, and they finally started trying to charge for them to get me to stop calling because they can’t fix their service. The techs admit it’s an issue present on their side, and that they can’t seem to fix it, while the customer service reps apparently see no open tickets on any known area issues. It’s a complete run-around. I will literally sell my house to get away from this completely unusable service, and recommend the next home buyer get a mobile hotspot instead of purchasing any service from Mediacom.
They are literally the only provider for my area. The second that a new option becomes available I’m switching in a heartbeat. I pay for their top package. I would literally pay another company more for dial up internet at this point, at $1,000/month running on servers in another country, and it would be more reliable and acceptable than this absolute comedic routine that...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars I would. I have a residential bundle and business package with them and it is a rip off. I went to add a channel that their on demand service said they had. I call and they tell me they do not offer that channel in my area. Then they tell me mediacom does not offer that channel at all. I asked to speak with a supervisor they told me the supervisor was busy and could not come to the phone. I asked why if on demand shows the channel I cannot get it. They then revert back to it is not offered in my area. Stupid people and non existent service! I’ll be canceling all services. Don’t bother getting mediacom they are the worst!
Rewind a few months I could not get onto my WiFi I called three times each time they said everything was fine. I said how is it fine if I do not even see my WiFi name? Someone had called in and changed my entire account! I am the only person on my account and no body thought it was odd that someone wanted to change everything on the account? I had been calling for months about overages on my account and no one at mediacom put 2 and 2 together. I asked them to put additional security questions when calling in. They agreed to that but not 1 time that I’ve called since have they asked for the additional security questions.
Not only does my internet go out all the freakin time I pay for high speed and only get max 40mbps. They have awful service and terrible customer service! Do yourself a favor and go with ANYONE else!
Just now a “supervisor” decided to call me back and this is how he begins the conversation “ummm, Vanessa right yeah ok ummm hi Vanessa?” Wow, ok please do not get a dumb co worker to call pretending to be a supervisor. Yeah canceling all services once I get an intelligent being...
