Saguaro Lake in Arizona is a hidden gem that offers a truly unparalleled experience. My boyfriend and I recently visited to paddle board and were blown away by the beauty of the lake and the surrounding scenery. The lake itself is stunning, with crystal-clear water and breathtaking views of the surrounding desert landscape. The lake is surrounded by towering saguaro cacti and other desert vegetation, creating a truly unique and awe-inspiring setting. The water is also incredibly calm and perfect for paddle boarding, making it the ideal spot for a relaxing day on the water. But the lake is not the only thing that makes Saguaro Lake unique. The surrounding area is also home to abundant wildlife, including various birds and fish. The staff at Saguaro Lake were also incredibly friendly and helpful. They made sure we were aware of the park rules and regulations, which helped us to have a safe and enjoyable experience. Overall, my boyfriend and I had an incredible experience at Saguaro Lake. The scenery, the wildlife, and the calm waters were all genuinely breathtaking, and we will be returning in the future. Whether you're a nature lover, an outdoor enthusiast, or just looking for a relaxing day out, Saguaro Lake is a must-visit destination that offers something for...
Read moreA little-known secret about Saguaro Lake is, the national forest access gate in the back of Butcher Jones Day use area. It's not advertised anywhere and there is no sign for it but it's very well developed and very easy to find once you're inside the area. The recreation on the back side of the lake is accessible only by four wheel drive or off Highway vehicles. (OHV must have permit) There are number of private beaches and coves that rarely see boat traffic or vehicle traffic. If you have access to a four-wheel drive and are looking for an afternoon or an overnight or several overnights away from the city access the forest through this gate. Disregard the "day use area" signs, as they don't apply to the National Forest access. You do not have to pay the day-use fee of the Butcher Jones day use area, if you're accessing the National Forest. When entering Butcher Jones from the Bush Highway the sign says closed from Sunset to Sunrise. As long as you're inside of the gate by sunset you have full access to the forest land if you choose to leave Before Sunrise you may at any time there is a tire slash barrier but it is to prevent inbound...
Read moreI did a swim here last summer and it was very relaxing. The first half of the beach was pretty rocky, but as you near the water, it's just mushy sand. The water was pretty shallow at first and for it being summertime, it was still a bit chilly at 9 am-ish.... My only gripe was that after swimming a few meters out, you hit some pretty yucky, slimy vegetation and you can't really see beneath the water so that feels nasty. Once you get past that, then you are on the deep end and at this point there's not as much of that weird vegetation, however you still bump into the occasional one. Make sure to have a flotation device if you plan on swimming some laps out here- very deep- feet did not touch the bottom. However, if you want a cleaner swimming spot, I'd say go for Lake Pleasant. Water seems...
