This spot is honestly great for a chill day on the water. There’s plenty of space, the water feels awesome, and the vibe is mostly families and folks just trying to enjoy their time. We paddle boarded, swam, lounged around, and it checked all the boxes for a solid lake day. Now the dings. First, people really need to get their act together with trash. How hard is it to pack out what you packed in? It’s not that complicated. Seeing wrappers and junk floating around just kills the vibe. Also, the restrooms... I have questions. Like, did everyone in there actively try to miss? It’s not a carnival game, it's a toilet. Do better. That said, it’s a beautiful area and worth checking out. Go early if you want space, bring your gear, maybe some wipes, and hope humanity remembers how to clean up after itself. Still had a great time though.

I'm not completely sure why I haven't been here before, but after 8 years living in Tempe, Arizona I finally visited the Butcher Jones Beach site with two of my sons - and we'll be visiting again. The location was gorgeous, especially in the later-afternoon when the sun went behind the hill(s), the water was refreshing, and it was an amazing visit. I'm guessing it gets crazy busy during weekends and holidays, but I still think it would be worth a visit for anyone near the area. There is a loading/unloading zone, which is very convenient, and we had the mandatory parking permit pre-purchased from Big 5; making this trip a wonderfully stress-free evening.

This is a great place to go paddleboarding, swimming, kayaking, or whatever other non-motorized things that you enjoy doing in the water. There isn't a boat launch at this beach, and motorized watercraft isn't allowed between the beach and buoys. There are a few trees for shade, but I noticed that most folks brought their own shade covers The bottom of the lake isn't too muddy or rocky either. It was mostly small pebbles, making it easy to walk on. That's a good thing since I forgot my water shoes today. Lol! We went on a Tuesday morning. It wasn't very crowded and there was plenty of parking available.
