Hunter Street Park — Attraction in Apex

This park was paid for by public taxes and now the town uses it by renting to local soccer teams which basically take over the fields and keep the public (those who paid for it) out during peak hours (5 pm-8/9 pm! I will be inquiring/making an official complaint about this to the town - soccer clubs who need fields like this every day should make their own facilities with their own money! Also the town should make renting of these properties fair to the local tax payers. The fields are modern turf and in excellent shape - the only reason I am giving 2 stars.

Update: Many of us complained to the town about the excessive reservation by teams that was happeing pre-COVID. The reps in town hall promised that the scheduling would be made more accessible to open play so that ALL tax payers have access to the field during peak hours (e.g., 6-8 pm). UNFORUNATELY, starting in July 2021, the town has started its past practice of renting the field to teams during peak hours. I will complain again and hopefully...

Great gated off little park with picinic tables and clean bathrooms. Best for little kids up to maybe 8 or 10, but a large sports complex is also right next to it, so there are plenty of options to keep everyone busy. This includes a baseball field, astro-turff soccer / lacrosse fields, large skateboard park, and very big outdoor dog park ( you do need to register your dog through the City of Apex to get an access card for entry ). Good size parking lot as well street parking all of which is free. My favorite thing about this park is how conveniently located in the heart of Apex it is. Downtown is only a short 5 min walk, so we enjoy walking over after a fun park day and grabbing dinner or ice...

There are lots of cool things about this park. They have a great dog park, a baseball field, soccer fields, and a skateboard park. The one thing that keeps it from getting a 5-star rating is the lack of good shade trees. This park is very well taken care of, the dog areas are kept super clean, and are in very good shape (not a lot of holes or mud). The soccer fields are turf, and the baseball fields look like they are in good shape, but I haven't been on them. The skatepark is always busy and there is a wide age range of skaters who use it.
