Have not had this much fun since going to Disney World! Though it was crowded, it was populated by kind and friendly folx from all over the world. We cannot overstate how glorious the natural landscape was surrounding this natural water slide, and it's position on a quaint apple farm also added interest on the walk to the river and back. Important note: the parking lot can and DOES get full - we were able to wait for vehicles to depart, but we can imagine that on busier days, you may have a long wait! Another ESSENTIAL note: wear water safe/grippy shoes! The algae covered rock, which allows for the excellent slide experience, can make traversing the rocky terrain, treacherous. There is a long staircase down to the river after a .25 flat easy walk. Elderly and/or disabled persons may need support to reach the bottom, though we saw many of both who did gain entry to the water below. Just take it slow!

Now, for the main event... SO MUCH FUN! Nothing makes you feel more like a kid than a water slide! And this long corridor offers many different locations depending on what your preferences are: deep pools for swimming/soaking, a high jump off point, about three different rock slide sections, and shallower, calm pools for those wanting a more temperate experience. Be prepared, the water is cold! But it's perfect on a hot Arizona day. On our visit, the temperature was about 90ish degrees, and after acclimating to the water, we spent a couple of hours before we were done. We were too hungry to stay any longer, but there were food, drink, and snack options on the walk to the slides. There was also a place to buy water floaties and towels if you so desire.

Another aspect to consider is that the location attracts large crowds. We were informed this was the "off season" and you wouldn't have known it judging by how many people were there! Though crowded, people were courteous and shared the space well, including taking turns sliding, jumping, etc. Strangers happily offered to take photos for us and we felt comfortable as an openly gay couple.

We highly HIGHLY recommend this unique and precious experience if you're in the area (or even if you're not! ...make the drive) it's unlike anything we've...

I have visited Sedona's Slide Rock State Park many, many times and it never gets old. This park is a true gem, offering a variety of activities that cater to nature lovers, adventure seekers, and families alike.

One of the highlights is the wide-open grassy area, which is perfect for picnics. The space is ample, allowing for a peaceful meal surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Sedona. It's a great spot to relax and soak in the natural beauty or to play some outdoor games with friends and family.

Another delightful feature of the park is the historic apple orchard. Walking through the orchard feels like stepping back in time, and it's fascinating to learn about the area's agricultural history. The presence of these apple trees adds a unique charm to the park, making it more than just a natural retreat.

The old buildings in the park are also worth exploring. They provide a glimpse into the past and help visitors understand the historical significance of the area. These structures add an educational aspect to the visit, making the park a great place for both recreation and learning.

Of course, the main attraction of Slide Rock is the area where people can play in the water and slide down the natural flume. It's an exhilarating experience to slide down the smooth, natural rock formations, and it's refreshing to take a dip in the cool waters on a hot day. This activity is a huge hit among all age groups, from excited kids to adventurous adults. Just be very careful entering the water as it is really easy to slip and fall.

The drive to Slide Rock is also quite special, as you navigate the road through Oak Creek Canyon, each bend in the road offers another spectacular view.

In conclusion, Slide Rock State Park is a must when visiting Sedona. Whether you're looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy a picnic, interested in historical buildings and orchards, or seeking an adventurous water activity, this park has it all. It's a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and fun, making it an ideal spot for a memorable day out. FYI,...

Unique and enjoyable destination that offers a refreshing twist on traditional river experiences. Nestled amidst stunning rock formations, this park provides a thrilling opportunity to slide down natural water chutes and enjoy the cool waters of Oak Creek.

The river on a rock concept at Slide Rock State Park is truly a delight. The flowing water over smooth rock surfaces creates a thrilling and fun experience for both young and old. The cold water provides a refreshing respite from the heat, and it's heartwarming to see the joy on people's faces, especially kids, as they swim and play in the water.

It's worth noting that Slide Rock State Park can get quite crowded, particularly during weekends and peak seasons. As a result, there may be a wait time of up to 1.5 hours to enter the park, as they only allow cars to enter when parking spots become available. While this can be inconvenient, the overall experience and enjoyment of Slide Rock State Park make it worth the wait.

Despite the crowds, the park's unique river sliding experience, coupled with the stunning natural surroundings, make it a place that is well worth visiting. The combination of adrenaline-pumping water chutes, cool waters, and picturesque rock formations creates a memorable and fun-filled day for visitors.

Overall, Slide Rock State Park is a beloved destination that brings smiles to the faces of both young and old. While it can be crowded and may require some patience to enter, the joy and happiness that come from sliding down the river on a rock make it an experience that is truly worthwhile. If you're seeking a unique and thrilling water adventure in a beautiful natural setting, Slide Rock State Park is definitely a place you won't...
