Lopez Lake Marina & Store — Attraction in Arroyo Grande

I have been coming here ever since I was twelve years old and I never have had the experience I had today. So a little back ground, I live about 45 minutes away from Lopez lake so when I decide to go here I know I'm gonna get good service but today I was definitely caught off guard. Me and my brother went into the marina since they don't stop renting until 3. We went at around 1:50. The whole time the lady at the counter is helping the people in front of us who got their pattle boards, but when she does help someone else it was not us. I took her 30 minuites before she got to us even though we were next line the whole time. By this point we were already mad that she was helping other people but by the time it was out turn at the counter she told us we could not rent pattle boards and when we asked if there was anything else we could rent, she said no and that the boss was down there and was not in a good mood. She could have told us this the whole time but she let us wait in line. Also as we were leaving, I noticed the time was 2pm and they don't close until three. I’m only giving it a one star this time I wish I can give a -5, but I can’t. I’m sorry for unfortunately because of the bathrooms the bathrooms the men’s bathroom was extremely dirty like a pigsty. It always is and every time I tell them they don’t really do a good job of it. They just go in there and tidy it up but today when I was there, I was disgusted there was toilet paper all over the floor after time it was soaking wet but also there was no toilet seat Covers available that you put on The toilets and all the dispensers were empty of toilet paper, and it was just some have to use toilet paper rolls on top damp toilet paper near the toilet. The toilet plunger was on top of it. Disgusting. This place or the bathrooms should be shut down. This is disgusting. It’s pretty bad when someone can’t come in there and use the actual bathroom because it’s so messy and pigsty. I feel like I walked into a kindergarten...

Walking in here was like 40 years never happened in the best way possible. I love places that have passed through the years hanging onto their original character and this place reminded me so much of being a kid in the mid-80s, I had to look around really closely to make sure I didn't step into a time-warp. Tap credit card machines, and a few flat screens and beer I know not to have existed in the 80s -- these are the few indicators I had to know it was 2025, otherwise I felt like I could have been 10. Me and my wife had a great day renting a small boat and taking a few spins around the lake, then we had some dinner. Hey, it's bar food but it was really good bar food, loved the fries, the wings were legit and the views from the deck were beautiful. How lucky we are to live in a place that has this vibe literally 10 minutes from a famous beach? I love living here and we will...
