It was a nice park. Loved how much of a large space could be kept hidden at the far edge of a tiny but quaint and beautiful neighborhood. Just the drive in had me feeling a little giddy. My partner and two dogs were on a road trip from WA to CA to visit family. We stopped by this park on the way down there so that the dogs could stretch their legs. I loved the grassy area. The little creek behind it. Lots of water fountains which we love so much for every dog park. Also, LOVED the scenery. It was just great.
The only reason I’m giving it a four out of five stars: We have a 1 year old male Alaskan Malamute. Typically what seems to happen is whenever we bring him to meet other dogs. 9 times out of 10 he is attacked by another dog. Now, he’s a 110 pounds at the least currently for a year old puppy. He’s a pretty massive dog but still acts as though he’s just come out of the womb. He gets attacked by other dogs, big & small. Our 3 year old husky seems to be the only dog he can get along with. & our Vet let us know that he portrays/acts on alpha male like tendencies. Other dogs can sense this apparently.
We got there when the park was barely active. Less than three dogs in the large play pen. The smaller dog pen was open and dog less. We’ll likely never see this park again and to keep from dogs attacking Titus (our malamutes name) we decided we’d attempt to keep them separate and in the small dog area. Within ten minutes two women show up.
Each of them made a comment on how to properly use the the dog pen. Both were passive aggressive and failed in an attempt to kick us out for having large dogs in that particular pen.
If either of them asked, they’d know. I’m sorry but.. First come, first serve. We weren’t looking to be there any longer than 25 minutes anyhow. Again, we were traveling. I’m sure one of the woman got the idea as soon as her dog went wild on the other side of the fence just by looking at Titus. Mind you, my dog won’t act until the other does. He will sit there and just allow the other dog to lose its senses and bark uncontrollably. He just won’t make the first move.
Because of this.. we had to leave early. & it’s such a shame we have to deal with it at all. WE JUST...
Read moreI would say that the dog owners are all there in good spirits, all the dogs were free to do as they would like, though I feel that the overwhelmingly abundant dog territory has made for a bit of hesitation in the dogs and it takes a minute for everybody to get warmed up, and even then, though everybody is playing well, they might not all be playing together as a big pack, there is segragation and an unspoken nature that keeps certain dogs divided because I bet the smells of all the dogs blending together makes it harder for them to get a sure sniff of certainty whilst getting acquainted on first meet, and so it can be nerve wracking while you are waiting for the comfortable and relaxing experience as a dog owner, when not knowing if some other dog is gonna have an adverse reaction, or be snappy around the water bowls, which I might add is there in abundance, they have a foot level water fountain for dogs and a hose, a kiddy pool, and a big dog bowl that some of the little dogs like to jump right into and play around, over all it is an excellent place to take your dog, it can just take a minute to break through the feeling of being fully welcomed but once your pup is playing nicely with a friend or two, the whole experience is basically self contained, I recommend a daily dose for any dog owner and...
Read moreThis is our #1 and only dog park that we trust and enjoy! We are not locals we drive from Medford-97504 area, but it is so worth it!:) Our Siberian Husky makes friends so easily who are well socialized dogs of all sizes and ages. The community is tight, responsible, and respectful. This park has the right amount of room for all types of breeds and their energy level. My sweet Mira enjoys the many pools with her fur-friends. When one dog leaves another three enter! It is a great way to spend our Saturday with a peaceful mind. If your dog needs help with social skills I suggest a personal dog trainer expert like Go Rogue Dog Training first and your dog will be ready for the park in no time, but one bad encounter can ruin another sweet dogs experience for life. As long as owners are responsible pet owners with already social and trained dogs then this park will stay...
