I have been going to the Bread Board for 30 years and loved the food and the Service. I am a local. A friend and I went there for brunch three weeks ago and we knew it was under new management and we assumed that the food and service would continue . Wrong.... the service was the worst we have ever had in our town, the young man who took out order was rude but we ordered any ways and we were served Chris’s waffle and by the time we received our waffles it was soggy when we said this to the waiter he replied, “ Take it home”! When I told him we would not be back the waiter told us, “your Choice”. My friend and I were so disappointed. Our favorite Restaurant for breakfast and lunch for 30 years was gone with the New Owner. It was special to my family. The wonderful service from Jim and Kerry was not there when we were there so I do not know if they stayed with the new owner, but if it was their days off we missed them and left saying to each other that there service should be trained by Jim and Kerry. As far as the quality of the food maybe it was the cook or maybe the Server taking to long to bring to us. We paid $20.00 for one waffle each and it was not good. We wanted to order the Marian pancakes but the Server said we would have to order the Special and if we didn’t order the Special then we would have to pay the Special price for just the pancakes. This was a change in the Bread Board policy. We will never return under this change...

The food is delicious as always, but service has gone down quite a bit since our last visit a few months ago. Today we waited over twenty minutes to place our drink order. I ordered water for the table and the person taking drink orders directly asked my four year old if she was sure and that she could instead get anything else (um, no, that's not at my child's discretion). It took three times of me asking if we could get a kids cup, as my daughter's water was in a tall, open glass. They eventually found a paper coffee cup for her to use, but the vibe was definitely not a family friendly restaurant as it seemed like a foreign concept. I've seen other reviews about coloring options, but that's never been offered to us. We then waited another fifteen minutes to order and never saw our waitress again (although we were sitting outside and the waitress walked by us multiple times without ever acknowledging us). I was repeatedly flagging down staff to get our waters refilled, napkins, and our check. We were told to checkout at the front if we wanted it done quickly.... This was after an almost two hour breakfast for one adult and a child. In terms of pricing, it's more expensive than brunch in Santa Monica... and we knew this because my husband was at a brunch restaurant in Santa Monica at the exact same time and we joked about the prices! It was $16.75 for an omelet, not including any...

My first visit I was so excited. It was thriving with customers. Not a seat in the house. I thought it was going to be great. I was greeted by a lovely lady who made me a latte and then I was seated fairly quickly at the service counter bar. That is where the trouble began. My male server, that I think was the owner was rude, unfriendly and put out to be helping me. I ordered a breakfast burrito with potatoes. The food arrived and the potatoes were literally raw. Hard red potatoes. I asked if he could send them back and get them well done. He said "no, it will take too long. You can have something else". I didn't want anything else. I wanted potatoes. I was there for breakfast. He refused to take them back and I had to insist on a credit for the potatoes because I didn't want fruit or tomatoes. He grudgingly took them off the bill. The burrito was OK. The salsa was awful. I finished my breakfast and left. No friendly service accept the woman who made my coffee. I gave them another try because everyone can have an off day. Same thing, same guy, same attitude. This time I ordered my potatoes well done when I ordered my breakfast. Guess what! They were the same. Won't go back. It looks quaint and should be terrific, but my experience was terrible and the food...

The Breadboard is a place I went regularly twenty years ago for some of my first breakfast-out experiences. I was afraid the memory wouldn’t hold up, but pulling in early with a family of four, we were greeted by friendly staff, a cozy, eclectic interior, and a mix of classic greats and excellent daily specials. I got the Mountain Man combination of biscuits, sausage and gravy with fried potatoes that I’ve craved, while my wife had a sweet potato fruit pancake that was perfect. The kids almost finished their massive platters and hot chocolates, and everyone left happy and full. Glad to see they’re still doing everything well.

Visited this morning on our way through Ashland to Portland! I had the standard breakfast of eggs, potatoes, toast, and bacon with avocado! There was way too much butter on the toast (like…dripping) but besides that it was yummy! My husband got the rancheros and enjoyed it but said he wishes the potatoes were crispier. They were cooked but still just oily and bland, not a lot of crunch or flavor. Good place for a quick bite but probably wouldn’t stop again. They were also out of oat milk after I saw on the menu that they offered it. I’m allergic to almond which was the only other alternative milk they had.

It was a mixed bag. Food was good, our large party had steak and eggs, pancakes and a bagel sandwich, among other things. The steak was good, cooked medium rare like we asked. Things could have used seasoning but there is salt and pepper on the table. The scrambled eggs were a bit over cooked for my liking but someone ordered them well cooked so…. Everyone seemed happy with their meals. Just make sure you go when it’s not crowded or with a large group or you will be asked to wait outside in the rain for a table. I was not a fan of that. Not the looks we got from other customers- will not speculate as to why…
