This was one of the coolest rest stops I've ever gone to. The view was amazing, and it was the perfect temperature. This section of the road is only open for part of the year, but the road you have to go down to get here is extremely narrow at some points. It was honestly really terrifying crossing through some points on the mountain. Another thing about this stop specifically is the bathrooms smell AWFUL. They don't have plumbing (duh it's at the top of a mountain) so it's just a pit of human waste with a toilet above it. If you can use the bathroom before you get on the road, you really should. Also, please bring hand sanitizer, there's also no sink. Another important thing to remember is that the altitude is so high, there's a good chance you're going to get dizzy walking arounf. Especially if you're not used to high altitudes. Other than that, the destination itself was very cool.

Stunning Views 🤩 Independence Pass Lookout offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. There is a paved path that leads to a deck-style viewpoint with informational signs, perfect for learning about the area while enjoying the scenery. You can also walk on the marked trails nearby to explore a bit more. The lookout is family and pet friendly, making it a great stop for all kinds of travelers.

Beautiful place. The drive up there was very good. I was nervous about the elevation and the curves. But with the speed limit and quite a few places to pull over to let people pass, it was an easy drive up and down. There are restrictions available. There is also a short walk to the view point.
