Hi, y'all! North Georgia girl here. 👋 I just discovered this gem after a few weeks of looking, needing adventure and to get out of my hotel room! From its sketchy bridge to the beauty of the forest, the Pond trail is my favorite, just outside the park gate. The first time I came, there was a snarl of tree limbs across the path with a long, stickery detour around. Noooo, thank you! Came back the next day armed with a folding saw and took care of that mess! This is a short and easy/moderate hike for me; the path plunges to the bottom pretty quickly and runs alongside a creek. There are several larger trees down across the path, but they're navigable. Ascent is just as fast and is a steady trek to the top, but doesnt take long then evens out. The last bit of this walk is through a bitty swampy area that changes to a sunny, overgrown grassy knoll and leads...
Read moreThe park is actually nice, almost a 3 star. The road in is so bad I'll bet many don't go there anymore. There are bathrooms but not clean at all in the 1 house we used. The overview is good and there are swing chairs that are awesome! You have to basically "4 wheel it" to get there and it's way off the road time wise. Read moreYou can go there almost any time of the day. It has restrooms...although the one restroom stinks like pee so bad I almost couldn't breathe. On the upside the kids can play on the playground areas. The view is beautiful...could have trimmed the trees like they used to. Harder to see the full view. Nice place to spend the day with the kids ...
