I was excited to go to a nature trail with my family today. Came across this one & decided to give it a try. I usually read reviews on ANY place I go. But for some reason, I didnāt with this one because of the high ratings. Firstly, thereās no signs for directory through the trail. You would literally get lost out here. My family and I walked so far thinking we would eventually circle around and meet the starting point. Boy were we wrong! We ended up so deep into the woods that we came to an opening off the trail with an abandoned farm/slaughter house. We immediately turned around and traveled back because WHY would that even be accessible on a trail? SECONDLY, the energy on this trail was extremely off putting & thick. Traveling back towards the entrance, we didnāt see one single person on the trail for Atleast 20 minutes but felt as if we were being watched. There were weird/spiritual markings on the trees. The smells near the creeks/water were horrible. My mom noticed a woman near the waterfall drawing in the sand and buried something. She also noticed a tree with a face and open mouth. There was also a baby car stroller left by a creek/ water stream deeper into the trail. It was literally sitting on the top of a hill that you couldnāt access unless you walked through the stream of water, it bothered us deeply because it was extremely odd. We were so creeped out by this place I went home to read the reviews because it was just too strange. I found out that this is a place for offerings, sacrifices, rituals & spiritual practices. And then it all made sense. WILL NOT BE BACK! If youāre someone that believes in spiritual warfare, I would strongly reconsider...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTrail for hikers, not really for runners. I'm posting a picture of my trail run for reference. I got lost twice in the woods and ended up covered in spider webs. I feel as though this trail is not well maintained. Very low on signage for directions and no markers on trees. Lots of downed trees and branches along the paths. Some garbage left over in many of the creek areas. In my pic, the purple circle is where i got very lost in the woods and it took awhile to find the trail again. The next circle which i marked as Blue is where all the big park boulders are. Alot of these trailheads had dead ends, one even cut through a cut chain link fence. Very odd. Then, due to lack of signage i left the park and followed that river trail pretty far passing a dilapidated farmhouse and a dumpy creek bed along the way before reaching another dead end. The entire circle, plus the river path was 2.8 miles, that inner circle was another half mile. There was hardly anyone on the trails, almost everyone at the park was just hangin out by the waterfall close to the front. When i was leaving there were cops in the parking lot talking to someone and looking through their car... im assuming break in? I probably wont...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a wonderful escape from everyday city life while hardly even leaving the city!! Cascade Springs is a beautiful and serene neighborhood that is home to this unique Forrest preserve. The trails are very well maintained, and the terrain is easy enough for my 4 year old to conquer. There are hilltops and trails to challenge your stamina but they donāt surprise you. You will notice a gradual change In the terrain to which you can stop at any streams/ponds for a break, turn back, or power through. Upon entering, you can follow the stream to the left of the crossing bridge and follow the stream to the waterfall. No matter what trail you choose, you will be rewarded with serenity and the fresh smell of nature. Even at the height of day, itās pretty fresh and (semi) mosquito free in there among the trees....
