The Paul Bunyan statue in Atlanta, Illinois is the biggest guy in town—literally. He’s 19 feet tall, holding a giant hot dog like it’s Excalibur, and guarding Route 66 with the kind of confidence only fiberglass can provide.

It’s roadside Americana at its finest: weird, wonderful, and a little confusing. Why is Paul Bunyan holding a hot dog instead of an axe? Nobody knows, but honestly—it works. It’s as if he chopped down a forest and then said, “You know what, I’ve earned a snack.”

The statue makes for fantastic photos. Stand next to him and you’ll look like you shrank in a cartoon. Plus, where else can you say you met a legendary lumberjack who gave up logging to sell giant hot dogs on Route 66?

Five stars for being tall, bizarre, and the most iconic man in Atlanta (sorry,...

1🪓 Another Route 66 giant checked off! Stopped by to visit Paul Bunyan and his giant hot dog—because how could I not? 😄 It’s a quick, quirky roadside stop with lots of Route 66 charm. Great spot for photos and a fun break on the road.

📸 There’s also a plaque nearby honoring local history, which adds a nice touch.

📲 See our stop on TikTok:...

Who doesn't love a big guy who is tall dark hair and handsome, oh, did I also mention made out of fiberglass. One of the Bunion Men you will see around the country except this one proudly holds a hot dog. Beautifully maintained on Route 66 in Atlanta, Il. When in the Atlanta area stop by and say hi for me. FYI: This big guy is well...

Very neat stop for sure! Paul Bunyan is pretty cool to see! He's holding a HotDog! Haha! It was used to promote a local business. This Town of Atlanta has a ton of Route 66 history! We spent over an hour checkin out all the neat stuff here. Definitely recommend stopping if near the area.
