I attended an event at this venue this weekend and noticed that the treatment provided by venue staff was very unwelcoming to both us, the attendees, as well as the event throwers. The event involved grade school children, elementary to college. Some traveled long distances and some were local. This was a very positive and exciting event for everyone, a joyous occasion and celebration of all the children's dedication and accomplishments. However we were made to feel unwelcome and rushed upon entry, by the venue staff, tainting the spirit of the event from the very start. We were immediately met with yelling and demands to leave the building after being told that people were able to enter the venue. The staff seemed to be very annoyed, impatient, and unfriendly. Overall, the staff members at the venue darkened the doorway from the beginning to the end of the event. And although they seemed to want nothing to do with the event and didn't want the attendees there, they not only sat in on the event and watched, they also ate the event throwers food, which seemed odd. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this event, we all did. I was very happy to see children doing something constructive and positive in 2024. It's rare to see so many black children dedicating their time to something so inspiring, they inspired me. My only regret is that the venue staff exhibited piss poor hospitality, petty behavior, and bad attitudes. Because of the staff here, I would never book this venue. 0/10. Would...
Read moreUpdate: I visited the childrens play area (4/18/18), and it is in need of repair! One of the metal floorings is about to fall out (which would have someone falling 5 feet or getting stuck and cut up) and one of the slides had a large horizontal crack in it. Making the play set really unsafe. If I was rating just this part of Diamond Lakes, it'd be a 1 star.
It's a nice park. There's a library, community center, basketball courts, walking trail, ponds to fish in and more! I enjoy walking around the "lakes" and sometimes take photos here (of other people). You'll get to see ducks and geese, depending on timing, as well.
The only draw back, that I can think of, is that the front pond gets pretty trashy pretty quickly. There are trash cans to deposit waste into, but there aren't lids, so the first nice breeze there is, the trash gets blown out.
As of now, they're adding onto the area. I believe a place to park RV's. Also, the park...
Read moreI had never been to this park before, but we recently tried it out for my family picnic (on my birthday). A new tradition for us. When we first drove on the location, we were impressed by the tennis & basketball courts and the gymnasium, but unfortunately that was the best that there was to offer. As we proceeded inward, we could see that the setup / layout of the park was not well thought-out. The walking trail is all dirt, the picnic area is very close to the street but the kids play area is very, very far from the parking lot. It sits in the middle of the baseball fields and is very small to be the only play ground at the entire park. I was definitely expecting more, but unfortunately, that's not what happened. There's more parking than there is actual Park. I think we'll drive a bit further to enjoy a different park...
