Tide Up Boat Rentals — Attraction in Austin

PROTECT YOUR PEACE AND DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! We had an 11am rental for a bachelorette weekend event. We arrive at 10:30, by 11:20 there is radio silence. We call and text to no avail, finally around 11:30 we are told that our captain no called no showed. They said they will only text as to "keep record" but really it's to hide their poor communication and poor customer service. The response time is severely lacking. The only solutions they were willing to provide was a refund or a boat at 3. We ubered 40 minutes to the dock and had already been there an hour, these were unacceptable solutions ESPECIALLY seeing they waited until after our rental time to tell us we would have no captain. Eventually, an employee that was off for the day decided they were willing to come in on their day off and we were willing to pay for that. Simply because we asked for a refund beforehand, the owner got his panties in a bunch and completely canceled our reservation.

This company is deeply unprofessional and will NOT offer solutions to problems that occur on THEIR END. Go ahead and skip the trouble and book elsewhere, like we ended up having to do. DEFINITELY DO NOT book here for special events especially.

It is also suspicious that this company has hundreds upon hundreds of 5 star reviews and less than 10...

I rented a boat and captain with Tide Up last weekend and the experience on the water was awesome! But the communication prior could have been better. I signed up for Lake Travis and received two email confirmations (one at initial sign up and one a few days before) confirming Lake Travis. Unfortuntently they moved the reservation to Lake Austin. They texted the phone number that was on file but unfortuntently that was not my number. I took the email confirmations as verification of my booking time and place and we all showed up to Lake Travis not knowing they had changed the location. It was extremely difficult to contact them since they only text. They also ignored numerous texts from me after the reservation. We ended up wasting quite a bit of money on Ubers/Feti's to the wrong location which was frustrating. We then Uber'd to Lake Austin and boarded the boat and did have a great time with our Captain so that was good. I would expect all forms of communication to match the information they are giving (ie the email shouldn't confirm something that isn't real) - without this snafu I would have given...

Booking our rental was super easy and they were very accommodating. Leading up to the weekend of our rental we were concerned with the weather and Tide Up assured us we would have the option to reschedule if we couldn't go on the water, safety is very important to them and they understand no one controls Texas weather. Thankfully we had sunshine! Tide Up was also very prompt with their responses via text and email, I love how professional they were. Our captain, Wes, was also really responsive, helpful, considerate, educated and above all dedicated to our safety. He even helped us by taking pics, handing us water when we were on the lily pad and turning up the music when we asked lol PLEASE ALWAYS TIP YOUR CAPTAINS!!! We'll be back in Austin for a girls trip in about 3 weeks and I'm def recommending we book with Tide Up. Also the party cove we went to was not crowded at all, we maintained distance from the other boats and revelers which made us all feel...
