Really looking more like a memorial to the old world giant civilization that once existed here as opposed to anything that the Wrigley family could ever build in their wildest dreams. The finest architecture is featured here, rivaling even that of Europe. Sparing absolutely no expense. Would be very difficult and extremely expensive to build anything like this today. The time period this was built in doesn't make sense. Especially with the technology at their disposal, or rather lack thereof. Unbelievable the story that is attributed to this, it's insulting to the people who actually built this, and the reason why they built it. It sure looks ancient too as well-preserved as it is, like it's survived a few resets, I see scorch marks and patina/varnish perhaps? Simply an incredible sacred place, even more so because I know there's much more to this story than...
Read moreWe walked to this beautiful place from busy Catalina to hear the sounds of birds instead of noisy tourists in golf carts. We experienced a vast array of native plants, well manicured trails great for anyone, young or old. We enjoyed the videos at the information center. We watched them all while resting after a lot of great walking. The Wrigley monument is in great shape. The stair climb is challenging but definitely worth the climb. Spectacular views from it. We saw one of the little foxes, many birds, and squirrels. The trees are clearly marked and labeled. We enjoyed taking our time to learn about many of them. The little stream was dry but we enjoyed crossing the little bridge. Beautiful day except the many noisy people on golf carts who we both noisy and rude. I'm grateful to have experienced this...
Read moreOne of the most romantic places on Catalina is the Wrigley Botanical Garden. It is a peaceful place to sit and meditate among the beautiful variety of plants that grow in the chaparral environment of the island. It is very educational to walk through the information center and to learn about the geological history of the island. The garden walkway meanders around the variety of plant life with name tags at the bottom soil. We walked over bridges and sat on benches surrounded by trees and listened to the sound of birds rustling in the leaves. It was very romantic and peaceful. It was a perfect way to...
