This was our first NASCAR weekend. We had pros and cons to share. 1) It's very loud. Bring ear pugs and headphones, Yes, both. We plan to buy good ones with a scanner for our next visit. The rented headphones were awful. $56 down the drain. 2) It's crazy expensive to eat there. $11 coffee, $13 beer, $15 hotdog I am not kidding. On day 2 we brought our own food, water and soda. We each bought one special drink - beer and lemonade. You are allowed to bring your own food and beverages, just not alcohol. We saw plenty figure out around that such as throwing beer coolers over the fence or putting alcohol in their gatorade and coffee cups. We had the $13 in our budget so it was fine to buy one, It is really big 24 oz beer. Maybe consider the Busch Lounge for food and drink for the weekend? 3) Everyone is REALLLY nice. Staff and attendees alike. I was surprised. Getting that many people together with alcohol I expected more fights and arguments. Not at all. NASCAR has strict rules and everyone follows them. It was really nice to see. 4) lines to get in and lines to get out. Get there early and plan to tailgate before and after to avoid the vehicle lines. We got there shortly after parking lots opened and hung out for an hour after the end of the race. Actually, we sat in our seats and watched the closing ceremony and then tailgated for an hour at our vehicle. 4) lines going in and out of stadium. There is a really long line to get in near the race time. We had planned to go to the infield experience unencumbered with no bags and then go back out to get them. The line was about an hour to get back in so we did not go back out like that on day one. It would be really nice if PRP put up lockers. Maybe for season ticket holders to reserve? I would have done that for the whole weekend. Left my headsets in there and maybe snacks. Certainly my cooler bag while I went into into the infield. Much easier without bags. 5) Infield Experience. Initially we thought it was a waste of money. Friday there was nothing to see. Not sure it's purpose for that day. Saturday would have been okay if we got there earlier. Sunday made it all worth it. We got to see the cars up close, the mechanics working on things, the pit crews setting up and we got to go on the track. We really enjoyed that. They have lovely sitting areas with shade, benches with large screens to watch the interviews and the race. I have to wonder what it would be like to watch form this area instead of in our seats. I would like to try that. 6) meeting drivers. I could only see a couple opportunities. The Q&A sessions offer the opportunity to meet, get autographs and photos. If you are in the infield experience and wait until race time they may take a moment to do this when approaching their car. Remember this is their job and they are focused on that. They may not even hear you or see you. They are not being rude. Just trying to be safe and stay in their mental zone to perform a very dangerous job.
In summary, get 30 or 33 NRR headphones with your scanner; bring your own food and beverages; bring chairs and snacks, get there early and plan to stay later to tailgate. Look at the QA sessions and plan to be there for your favorites. Lastly, have fun. Make the experience best for you. Tweak thing you don't like and enjoy the ones you do. We will be back in November with some changes to how...
Read moreWe attended the 2021 NASCAR Championship week by camping in Yellow 1 for the entire week, infield pass for Friday, and tickets to all three days of racing. It was our first time here and before the week was over we had 2022 renewal all set up. We had so much fun! I will take this opportunity to write my one recommendation for improvement: although there are shower trailers available for campers, it would be nice to see a high quality brick and mortar multi-shower building in place for us campers. But believe me, I am very appreciative that showers were available. Otherwise, I got no other "real" complaints.
The entire property is up to date and arranged so we'll. Entry was smooth and easy (of course there were lines, but we spent very short time in them). Meeting Julie Giese at the "Share a Coke with Julie" event was awesome. She took time to talk to us fans and take pictures. She is truly a class act and I believe that she truly appreciates us fans. THANK YOU JULIE!!
Now for our "ticket guy", James Briggs! He has been nothing but professional and extremely helpful with our entire experience (not only here at Phoenix but also with tickets at other NASCAR tracks). Being able to meet him in person and talk about things to do went above and beyond what I expect of simply a ticketing agent. He actually came to our camp site to make sure everything was going well and deliver gifts from the track. This was very unexpected and appreciated. We made sure to coordinate with him for our renewal for 2022.
Last but not least the racing. Every event was amazing and left nothing on the track. Competition at every turn! Amazing finishes. Right down to the last lap!
THANK YOU Phoenix Raceway!!! Cannot wait to see you all again...
Read moreThe show (Grey day) last night was not only staffed horribly but also directed badly as well.
Me and my boyfriend made it clear to get to the show EARLY so that we could see all the performers. We got to Phoenix Raceway at 5 pm, It took us an HOUR to get to the parking area. After we finally parked, We got to the back of the line at 6 p.m. The Line was like a mile long. It took almost TWO HOURS before we even got inside of the venue. At this time, we had missed three sets (Sematary, Ramirez, Freddie Dredd) All before we got inside. At this point me and my boyfriend were fed up with the lack of security, and horrible directions from the staff, We tried to leave at 7:40 pm. We asked the staff where the exit was, and how to leave Phoenix Raceway. The staff told us that there WAS NO EXIT and that Phoenix Raceway had sold 20k more tickets than they should have. Was using BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD, which is illegal, to direct traffic to parking because there were so many people they didn't expect. There was no way out, no exit, and we had to wait ANOTHER HOUR, with numerous others trying to leave, at 8:30 before me and my boyfriend could finally get back on the road to get home.
This experience was horrible. There was not enough staffing, parking, security, or even capacity inside of the venue for this event.
I will be posting this as a review and will be telling everyone not to attend a show at your venue. This was the worst...
