San Gabriel River bike trail is my riding grounds,, great for cycling, running, hiking or even just walking with your dog ,, just beware that they're coyotes and bobcats throughout the trail,, recommend to always carry pepper spray just to be safe as well as insect repellent because they're a lot of mosquitoes... I ride this area at least 3 to 4 times a week usually my rides are from 40 to 45 mile rides and this bike trail is absolutely a road cycling dream , you can transition from the bike trail to HWY 39 and take it all the way up to Crystal lake Cafe ,, been there and done it , this trail passes Encanto Park in Duarte where many cyclist park and ride either up to Crystal lake Cafe or go south on the trail and it'll take you by Santa Fe Dam and transfers down to Rio Honda trail in El Monte and it'll take you to Long Beach or Seal Beach whichever you prefer. The San Gabriel River bike trail is a great area with many stops...

Lots of hiking trails some dirt trails some paved most seem to well maintained and are clear for walking. There is a water small water falls through out. Sadly some places are littered with trash. If you do hike always good idea to take gloves and trash bags so can pick misses left behind. There are tables and seating spots throughout the trails and out door bathrooms often no paper in them tho. Always good idea to take a hiking pack back with supplies to keep clean as you are a good distance from town when you follow the trails. Would recommend for a nice peaceful day in nature or to hang out in the water when you find a good spot. Make sure to take sunscreen and bug stray and always keep in mind there are animals all around. Beautiful nature spot! Also a nice drive to get to...

Long trail with multiple access points along the San Gabrial river. Overall good, but poorly maintained in the underpasses. Numerous pot holes and bumps make the trail unpleasant to ride on. We ride this trail regularly but have gotten a flat tire twice from the pot holes. Be sure to carry repair tools if you’ll be riding...

After raining, there will be waterfalls on the road side before entering Encanto Wilderness Park (crossing side). If pay more attention and look further, there seems to be a bigger one hidden in the mountain area (just a small part of the falls).

River crossings are difficult when the water is high. As of 4/22/23 the water was 4.5 feet and rushing at its height. Do not underestimate the force. Great hike and excellent scenery
