Intimate, guided wine tasting with the owner who is very passionate about his craft. We showed up without a reservation or anything, and were a little intimidated by the intimate setting at first as you are at the owners home, but were welcomed warmly right away and directed to a table on the small patio/lawn area overlooking the vineyard. The owner came over and explained that there are 5 bottles open for tasting, and for $20 you get to try all 5 wines, but the fee is waived if you buy two bottles of wine. As the owner will explain, he grows his own grapes on the island which is unique, as Washington is a cold climate so the variety of grapes available for wine-making is limited to those that can grow in cold climates which is very cool and unique. We loved every wine we tried and were tempted to buy all 5, and after hearing the owners stories, history, and generally having a nice time chatting, we bought 2 bottles and had one tasting fee waived. Very excited to crack a bottle with his suggested food pairings.

For those looking for a quiet, charming spot devoid of overly commercialized wine-tasting experiences, I would highly recommend making a visit to Perennial. They’re one of just a handful of vintners in western Washington that grow their grapes locally (including some rare varieties grown otherwise exclusively in south of France), and I felt transported to a quaint fairytale hideout tucked away on the island. Mike and his son were awesome hosts, and everyone we encountered on the island raved about their wines (will be back for the chocolatier pairing this winter!). Thank you for having us :)

This place is AMAZING!! It's beyond just a winery - this is a history lesson. Mike owns the place and was the best possible host because he literally does EVERYTHING on the vineyard. He wears all the hats. If you're traveling to Bainbridge Island, you absolutely HAVE to end up here. It's exactly what you're looking for out of a journey to Bainbridge and you would be shorting yourself if you didn't visit Perennial. I didn't know the owner before today but I will absolutely be back. Visit here. I highly recommend it.

Best spot for wine, the owner is extremely nice. First time in WA where the person who grew the grapes, made the wine, poured the wine, explained and broke down the wine. This really helped me understand tasting it, as he was very honest, as I'm usually very picky. I love sweet wines, from when my husband was stationed near Temecula. His wines were the first ones I truly appreciated on a deeper level. In Cali you want a dark red sweet wine, here you want something crisp, refreshing like the breeze. The taste of his wine literally grounds you to Earth, and the elements around you, captivating and capturing it all in a bottle. This is very hard to do, to embed a flavor into someone's memory. Every other winery around has the excuse of it not being hot enough for sweet wine, causing an awful bitter wine. His is the only wine I've found in WA and OR, that has grabbed the natural tannins from its surroundings, and truly embraced them in a hug of flavors. Without using his surroundings as an excuse, he's fully mastered his environment, on the contrary to other wineries, who will literally apologize that it's not grown in California, and that's why it's "not as good". I believe any wine can be good, as long as it compliments its...

went there almost a month ago but just opened the wine i had purchased, and it reminded me that this experience definitely deserved a review. the wine is really good, i’ve been weird about wine but seriously, this has changed how i’ve felt. along with the actual visitation of the place where they grow everything, it’s amazing. the owner had so many interesting stories that really reel you in, i could’ve listened to him for hours. he was kind, generous with the samples, and had so much backstory as well as explanation for everything that’s in each of his wines. i recommend fully. he made us feel like he was really having a conversation with us, not like how most places make it feel like they’re just trying to sell you something and don’t actually care. this place cares. it made our trip to...
