READ - Aggravated Assault via Shooting on Premises. On 5/21/22 I attended an afternoon/ early evening wedding here at the Cylburn Arboretum. At around 9pm I returned to the parking lot to leave but instead was held at gun point while seated in my car. The individuals were attempting to rob me and take my vehicle. Fortunately, I was able to flee but not before being shot at several times and having damage inflicted on my car. There were no lights in the parking lot, no security cameras, and no one at the front gate monitoring anyone coming in and out. I reached out to this venue informing them that this was a completely avoidable situation and that for future guests, safety measures should be put in place. Communication with them was slow and my request for follow ups, regarding safety for future guests, have been ignored. The venue has seemingly taken no responsibility in the incident and has made not attempts at addressing the issue to my knowledge. This was a very expensive and traumatic experience. I fear something like this could very possibly occur again at this venue with potentially even worse of an outcome. I hope anyone reading this will reconsider holding their events here until proper safety measures are put in place to...

This Arboretum is small but spacious. It seems to be in transition right now, both the rose garden and carriage house are under construction. The visitors center and educational areas are nice updated buildings that fit into the landscape. While the mansion is a stand-out both unique and beautiful without being over fancied. It has its charm from the past. The properties care takers are always working, caretaking for plants and cleaning the facilities. Bathrooms have always been clean on my visits. The visiting crowd tends to be families, couples and some poetic looking independents. It’s a great space to spend a day, morning or afternoon to connect with nature. Please beware of ticks in the tall grasses or if you are a tree hugger. Check out the events list- it has...

We went for one of the open house tours in early April. The staff in the mansion and the nature education center were wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the history of the grounds and the flora and fauna one can find there. Of note, we were immediately greeted by adorable northern mockingbirds at the entrance of the mansion and only continued to see birds and flowers from there. The trails were easy to walk in regular shoes or sandals. There are wheelchair ramps, automatic doors on the education center, and braille labels on the premises. The upper floors of the mansion were not open to the public for tours (on the day we...
