Must-Sees in Acadia National Park: Beehive Summit - 1.4 mile loop ascending up cliffside iron rungs and rock scrambles leading to panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean & Sand Beach (best during sunrise) Gorham Mountain - 1.8 mile out & back trail ascending up one of the tallest mountains in the park with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, & Otter Cliffs Jordan Pond Loop - 3.2 mile loop around Acadia's second largest pond, best for bird watching and access points to North & South Bubble (hike South Bubble via the Bubble Divide Trail to see Bubble Rock) Schoodic Peninsula - lesser known mainland (Maine-land) part of Acadia that offers views of the rocky cliff coastline and lighthouses Is Acadia on your list to visit? #acadianationalpark #acadia #nationalpark #hiking #maine

What a grand adventure! This is a very easy hike in most seasons. If you plan on winter hiking, check with the ranger station in Bar Harbor for trail conditions. There was a thick layer of ice under the 3-4 inches of snow which made a few spots treacherous if you don't have and ice gear. Basic crampons, Yaktrax or MICROspikes will do the trick. The views are pretty spectacular in the winter and on a sunny day the 30 degree temperature is actually perfect. Just be aware of what time sunset will hit. The Gorham mountain trail leads to a couple other equally fantastic hikes.

This was a fun (but heavily trafficked) trail. Not too difficult, with minor scrambling and overall great views the while way up. We brought our mini dachshund with us and needed limited assistance climbing. I'd suggest taking the Cadillac Cliffs trail on the way back if you're feeling saucy. It spiced up the overall trail hike and offered a more diverse climbing experience.

Parallels the Beach Path, but several hundred feet higher up, so you get a higher-level view. Nice mix of wooded/rocky trail and nothing too technical. Park at the southern end of the trailhead, near Boulder Beach. Then you can take the 3 or 5 shuttles back to your car from Sand Beach...
