I normally enjoy a more challenging hike or wander around a park, yet this place is a nice change of pace and has a handful of dirt paths off the normal trail (not to be confused with the shortcut parts near trails due to lazy people). A larger friend of mine accompanied me and kept pace as there isn’t much of elevation changes or obstructions to traverse over. A lot of other families and folks were out walking and biking on the concrete path that goes through the area.
There are a few hills for a leg burner, the view along the water is super neat, and despite the bare trees and bushes, the nature is still beautiful. Spring and summertime must be lovely here! Weekdays are less busy, especially during the cooler months.
The nature center was closed during my visit, so I’m unsure what services are offered. The grounds has lot of communal spaces, like a shaded picnic area with grills; other areas gives the impression for educational purposes as well as private events like small weddings...
Read moreWe had a field trip here and it was truly awful. The people in charge used the worst “humor” with our 3rd and 4th graders. One boy raised his hand and was offering his experience of the wild animals he’s seen. He said “Did you know I saw….” And was abruptly cut off by the teacher who said “no, why would I know that? I just met you today.” I’m not sure why the teachers are “teachers” if they obviously dislike children so much. This was one of MANY examples and it was completely inappropriate. I do not recommend having a guided field trip. The place itself is beautiful, but unfortunately the staff leaves much to be desired. Our entire group of 50+ felt the same way. We will not...
Read moreLove this place been gojng here for many years. Only reason not 5 stars is it is literally the same all the time. Once you have gone a few times the children want something new. They need to change the setting more often. At least maybe once every so often. Different interactive things to do. A table with an art project maybe something. We do enjoy the center very much but just needs to change from time to time. I love that they offer classes and rescue animals as well. If you are in Aurora with children it is a nice place to stop ans explore. Cost is free but classes have a cost and you have to sign ...
