The director, Keith, is an absolute wealth of knowledge, charming, and passionate about the possible changes we can make to affect positive change for the livelihood of many species along the NC coast. While the center is not generally open, contact them through their website or social media and arrange a visit if possible. The building is chock full of some one of a kind, only one in the world, fully articulated skeletons. Each with their own story, history, and detailed information. Teaming up with numerous education and research partners, they're moving forward the baseline of understanding how many of these wonderful animals are evolving, their history as a species, and ultimately coming to as many questions as conclusions. They are the Marine mammal stranding network for North Carolina and handle the dead and dying stranded whales, dolphins, seals, etc. that end up on our beaches.
