This was the 3rd stop on my year long tour to see all the NC Lighthouses. And it did not disappoint!!! Its a beautiful quiet and peaceful area. The keepers that were there were so kind and talked to us for awhile. She told us some history and other things about the lighthouse. Unfortunately due to covid last year and now some structural damage inside its closed for 2 years for inside tours. But its ok bc I wasn't really gunna do that anyway. I just love to look at the outside. Its a beautiful lighthouse. The beach in front is so calm. My son and I sat right at the waters edge and just let the water hit us. Shells were small there but was fun to look. I've heard the best shells are way down at the south end. We only stayed 2 hrs but next- we are heading down the other side of the island and chilling a day for a fun adventure. But this was a great experience. 2 thumbs up and 5 stars for sure!!!...

This area was interesting. It does provide beach access, there are restrooms and a shower area. The lighthouse is not open to the public. However, the caretaker's home is open to guests and serves as a museum. There's a gift shop & there were a couple of food truck options, which must be new since everyone had warned us that there was no food options on the island. So, that was a nice surprise. It's not the cheapest beach option in the area, so that keeps the crowd to a minimum, I'm sure. It was roughly $130 for my family of 4 to take the ferry out. The star of this show is, for sure, the crystal clear blue waters that we found to be pristine and peaceful. This island is uninhibited but extremely well cared for. We extremely recommend taking the charter out the 3 extra miles to the end of the lookout. It's basically like paying a little extra ($75) for your own private...

Hey Ya'll!! This was my first time getting to see the lighthouse after 8 years, coming to North Carolina. It was everything I hoped it would be! We visited the visitor center first before we set off on the Island Ferry service that took us to Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Everything around the island was clean and well kept, and the lighthouse site was really neat, too. There is the keepers quarters house museum close to the lighthouse that you can walk through. They have a walkway you can take to it, and on that, there is a shop with souvenirs, snacks, as well as changing/bathrooms. Staff is very nice and helpful. And yes, they do accept cash or cards here as well. It was really warm the day we visited, but they have anything you may have forgotten to bring there like sunscreen, hats, snacks and drinks. The beach was great for shell hunting as well. It is a...
