Not sure who to provide feedback to but the trails from the Trryell Park are terrible, whereas it could be very good with common sense work. Hiking from the right of this sign, found more I guess maintenance roads unnecessarily disturbing trail ambience along with perhaps commercial business along side trail. The trail ends along side road/oil pipeline forcing you back track to starting point. Not sure if even one of these loops are complete and even the one signage was wrong on the trail. Either lack of caring or money to take care of money producing golf course could be cause since this is obvious. Even trail to observation platform was a joke and lacked clear path or signage. The obsolute worse rating of my national trip having visited 14 national and 8 states parks in 8 weeks. Greenbelt inside roadway was pleasant enough with nice bathrooms and worthy of exercising on roadway, but not Marshall area. Seemed like pleasant area for picnic under pavilion like structures. My complaint is with the...
Read moreI recently explored a spot very close to Tyrrell Park, and it turned out to be such an amazing experience! The area features a charming small botanical garden, a peaceful fountain, and a lovely pond tucked away at one end of the park. There’s even a golf course for those who enjoy a game in a scenic setting.
What really stood out to me was the viewpoint at the far end of the park—you can spot alligators and a variety of bird species from there. It’s a great place for wildlife lovers and photographers alike.
One of the best parts was the walking trail that loops around the swamp area, stretching about 3 to 4 miles. Walking through it, I had the rare chance to see alligators up close in their natural habitat. The whole vibe of the place is calm, exciting, and perfect for hanging out with friends or just enjoying nature on your own.
Definitely recommend this hidden gem if you’re around the...
Read moreIt was a nice stop as the rains came on the way to the rookery at High Island.
The center has what I'd describe as a greenhouse converted into a lovely enclosed garden. They so packed many interesting features inside! There are winding walkways along the lush tropical vegetation, a reflection pool filled with fish, an arching bridge, a waterfall (yes, a waterfall!), a curly topped resident, a snarling cat and a very tall dinosaur!
Benches are set throughout, inviting visitors to sit and listen to the waterfall while taking in the serene atmosphere.
Outside, there are more walking paths to view roses and other blooming beauties.
Yes, it was a...
