First, Saturday morning’s cancellation of games was poorly handled. Families received notice around 8:22 a.m., long after many were already dressed, on the road, or arriving at the fields for 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. games. The forecast didn’t change, so there’s no reason this decision couldn’t have been made earlier. Waiting until the last minute is inconsiderate to both parents and kids, and it shows a lack of judgment and planning. Families deserve better communication and respect for their time. Secondly and unfortunately, this is part of a broader pattern. Conditions of soccer fields, outside of the Forest side of the county, are neglected. Fields may get mowed and occasionally marked, but that’s about it. U6 and U8 nets and frames are decades old and rusty “repaired” with duct tape and zip ties instead of being replaced. U10 nets are full of holes from years of wear. These are inexpensive fixes new nets across the county could be done for under $2,000. The fields themselves are uneven, full of holes and dirt patches, making play unsafe and frustrating for kids. It feels like if you’re not on the Forest side, your facilities don’t get the same level of care or attention. Families are paying taxes and additionally paying for programs that should provide safe, fair, and enjoyable play. It’s time Bedford County Parks & Rec raises its standards and puts real effort into maintaining all facilities, not just the favored ones. I tried to take pictures without getting people or kids. But you can see the field today.

I consider myself very fortunate to live in Bedford County and to be able to enjoy the wonderful parks and recreational opportunities here. I especially enjoy the Falling Creek and Liberty Lake Parks with the user friendly exercise stations along the trails I also attend the FREE line dance classes. They are good for body, soul and spirit; and attract great people with big hearts. Thank you Bedford County Parks and Rec. Keep up...

They fixed the biggest hole at the skatepark which is AWESOME! There's still 1 or 2 that definitely need to be patched but the fixed one is great. THE WATER FOUNTAIN IS NOW ON, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! After years of being off, this thing makes such a difference! There was no way I'd waste my drinking water to cool myself off before but now I can comfortably skate all day and not worry! Thank you so much, so many people are...
