This was my first trip to a forest and I loved it. The rocky trail up to The King And Queen Seat is awesome and easy to follow. Trees surround you the entire hike up.There are massive rock formations bigger than a truck scattered throughout. It's not a difficult hike, but you need to watch your footing. There are stones jutting from the ground everywhere. Some of the more difficult parts have makeshift stairs built into the path. If you listen you can hear Deer Creek running behind you. Take a moment when you get to the top before rushing to the edge. The landing is a great spot to chill for a moment after the hike up. Once you walk out to the edge all you can see is trees. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of trees. The view is just spectacular. The sound from Deer Creek seems to drown out the traffic from the road below. When I got to the top there was a turkey vulture chilling on the edge. Watching it fly off above the forest was a sight to see. There are of course birds everywhere and you can here them the entire time your there. There is unfortunately graffiti all over the top because people are awful. It looks like the paint is periodically removed, but there are many names carved into the stone. There is a spot on the other side of the road where you can wade in Deer Creek. It's very rocky so you will want shoes. The water was cold even at the end of August. There's also a small bench where you can sit and just watch the water go by. This is a great outing for a family, although pre K might be too young for some of the steeper parts of the climb up and down. My 5 year old cousin was just fine though and kept up, outpacing his mother. I hope you get a chance to Rocks State Park and enjoy it as...

Read moreAmazing views from the top! I parked at the bottom of the while trail near the park office. It's a rather short hike from there to the King & Queen Seat, but it's a rather steep incline up. You can, also, get there from the red trail as well. I recommend parking at the Rock Ridge Picnic Area and following the red trail to avoid any steep inclines. It's a rather straight path from there. I saw some people rock climbing up the side and that was pretty neat. If Rock climbing is your thing; this would be a good...
