I ventured out to the King and Queen Seat with my little friend Foxy. It was during the week in the morning in November. Being out in nature is a great way to renew yourself and just breath. There were a few people on swings at the entrance to the trail. It's a very flat easy short trail. I've been going there since I was a child and I know those cliffs are dangerous if you get too close to the edge so please be careful. Much to my surprise as I was climbing up the rocks I saw 3 turkey vultures at the end. Tried to get a close up but they are big and have a six foot wing span and was afraid one would take off with my little 6 lb puppy! Silly me. As I was heading back to the car I saw a few big birds circling and cawing and my little ankle biter starting barking at them it was so quiet out there. Found out later, after losing a $5.00 bet with my son, that turkey vultures do not have a voicebox! I'm still wondering what those birds were.. until...
Read moreFun state park lots to do!! They have an awesome kid zone. For young explorers and mini hiking and educational trail just for them. Also be on the lookout for the "Princess seat" We parked at the picnic area. It's very close to king and queen seat. Which is only 1/4 mile walk from the parking lot. They have very nice restrooms and clean picnic and swings area. Down in the lower parking lot is the water which you can tube and wade in. Be careful not to jump in as some parts are very shallow. This park is very peaceful and is great for pictures. Of course be leery with taking small kids and dogs up on the king/Queen seat as it very rocky and the drop down can be fatal. They can view it from the distance. Overall fun adventures almost a full 3 miles for the whole hiking trail. Bring lots of water and a lunch as they do have grills and...
Read moreI really enjoyed this park and would have gave it a 5 star review. However, although I understand the park Rangers have a job to do by protecting the environment, they were very rude. I'll say this much, they need to be more organized and for the amount of space their is in the park area, for people to be at, there was a lot of empty benches. There is a fee per car and per person(which wasn't expensive at all)
On the more positive side of this review, the park is beautiful!! Has trails, a river and the king and queen rock at the top of the mountain. The park has grills, benches, and public bathrooms to use. No garbage cans are there, as you are responsible for bringing your own garbage bags and taking your trash with you.
Hopefully in the future they are more organized and professional (especially the park Ranger with...
