These are awesome trails... always maintained!!! A VERY BIG SHOUT OUT to all the volunteers that keep it maintained, THANK YOU, and keep up the great work! Trails are well labeled, and if you pay attention, the blues and blacks will tell you if it's more extreme than usual, too. So pay attention or just go big or go home. Lol There are man made obstacles throughout, too. In the parking lot of the trailhead, there's a pump track and some skills obstacles to try out that are super fun! There's so much out there for everyone to have fun! Even kids with the walking bikes, too. There's a bike station if you need to prop your bike up to do some work, and then even have tools out there. But sadly, some of the allen wrenches are rounded due to rust. So donate a set if you have a spare! There's a bike pump, too. Though I didn't test it so I don't know 100% if it works, but it looked fine. All the grounds are compact, so it's sturdy to ride on. But font get me wrong, those signs are spot on for how hard they are! The santos bike shop is a great shop too. I think the guys name is Mike ( sorry if it wasn't) but super great guy to talk to and also knows his stuff! Go check them out too (free map if you need one). So go out and be ready to have a great ride no matter what! And remember don't litter and pick something up if you see something. Every...
Read moreMy ride at Santos Trailhead & Campground in Ocala, Florida, was an unforgettable adventure, earning a well-deserved 5-star review! We rode our road bikes to the Landbridge and back, a roughly 16-mile round trip, and the experience was phenomenal. Best of all, parking was completely free, making this an incredible value for such a high-quality outing. The paved trail was flawless—smooth, meticulously maintained, and clear of debris, perfect for road biking. Clear signage ensured a seamless and enjoyable journey to the Landbridge.
The scenery was breathtaking, with stunning wooded views of pine forests, palms, and vibrant Florida vegetation that immersed us in nature’s beauty. Crossing the iconic Landbridge over I-75 was a highlight, offering a unique vantage point and a rewarding milestone. We spotted some wildlife, adding to the magic. Water stations were strategically placed along the route, crucial since there’s very little shade—sunscreen and plenty of water are essential for the sunny stretches.
The park was pristine, with clean facilities and a warm, inviting vibe. While Santos is renowned for its mountain bike trails, this paved route to the Landbridge is a road cyclist’s dream. Free, scenic, and impeccably maintained, Santos Trail is a must-visit for any cyclist. We’re already planning our next trip!...
Read moreBeautiful trail. Well kept. Tables and benches along the way. Bathroom at Trailhead 49. We start at santos' campground trail head and go ten miles to the 49 trail head. There's a pavilion and bike cleaning station and a bike air pump and tool kit hanging. Also a horse parking area. The road is smooth, with some hills and curves and tunnels, and even goes across I 75, and you go stop and view. There's a water source just crossing over the bridge, and I'm guessing for horses. There are pedestals for horse people to get on and off their horses. I don't do mountain bikes, but it looks like a lot of road trials. You have to cross roads and well marked. Thanks to Florida residents and the Florida government and the people involved to make this trial happen. There's a bike shop across from Santos' campground trial head and 2 mtn bike tracks at the campground trial head and nice restrooms. There's plenty of parking and...
