During multiple visits to the wonderful town of Bend I’ve enjoyed the company of so many lovely residents. Unfortunately, I had an entirely different experience today. I was shocked by the unilateral apathy demonstrated by people whose unleashed dogs accosted me throughout my run on the “Rimrock Trail.”

Over the course of the last 30 years I’ve run in many cities and I’ve never encountered owners so irresponsible and universally apathetic to the aggressive and anti-social behavior of their animals.

I was attacked by dogs so often (with their owners consistently expressing merely a glancing interest) that by the second mile I moved off the trail each time a dog approached so as to avoid yet another attack.

While I understand that this area is designated as “off leash” for the dogs, that should not mean that their owners are “off duty.” Far too often the dogs I encountered were ill-mannered and nearly unsupervised by their owners.

This “trail” is actually a dangerous dog park where anarchy reigns and it should be avoided by any runner seeking to enjoy...

A great place to recreate with your OFF LEASH dog. Most dogs and people are well behaved and friendly. Be prepared for a run or bicycle ride here as there are LOTS of dogs, and they will want to greet you and are interested in the fast moving people, so again if you are not "dog literate" you may find better areas...

Love walking here but am so disappointed at the amount of cars that park in non-parking spots BLOCKING the trail. It's a paved trail. If you park in a way that people can't even get a wheelchair by then you are an...

Located just outside of Bend, OR you’ll find miles of off leash trails to walk your pups. These trails all lead to the Deschutes River where they can run and splash around in. It’s every dogs oasis and every dog owners sanctuary knowing its well kept, respected trails, and good dog owners that own even better dogs. Dog parks can be so tricky especially if you have two dogs you wanna keep your eye on like me. I love this spot and i try to go here as often as i can. #pnwonderland #pnwlife #dogpark #gooddog #bendoregon #pnw #oregoncheck
