If you're looking for quick break from the city on a nice shady walk in the woods, THIS IS NOT IT. Idk how there can be so many trees with only the tiniest scraps of shade here and there, but this is a hike that should only be taken early in the morning or late at night. The sun is so harsh and the river is so far you should plan to provide water for your dog before you reach it. The paths spider all over each other so if you don't know where you're going or use a map you'll wind up walking many extra miles. It is also incredibly dusty, so expect to be filthy from the knee down. If you do come here, dress and bring water for a substantial hike, not a city walk, or you'll be just as heat stroked and miserable as I am right now. Also beware if your vehicle has low clearance, the driveway in...

Be careful driving in because there are a lot of irresponsible people letting their dogs run around off-leash in the parking lot and road. I know it's an off leash park, but it's just common sense to keep your dog on a leash around moving cars...isn't it?

Other than that, this is an awesome off-leash area full of paths and trails, so you never feel like you are crowded, even if there is a completely full parking lots with cars along the side of the entrance.

My dogs don't love getting in the river so we stay up on the ridges and explore new trails nearly every time we're there. Just doing the same trails in different order is an adventure!

Sept 2024 update: they filled in the monstrous potholes so smoother...

Have you ever encountered a leashed dog that when you approach it or it approaches another dog, it growls! Well, the reason is when a dog is leashed they feel confined/cornered and as a result a natural defense mechanism wired in their brain takes over... and they growl or bark! Off leash dogs "sort" thing out without growling, etc. and NO fights. Doubt me... visit Good Dog park! There is always a huge herd of dogs playing near the parking area and It's rare to see dogs fighting, growling or being a problem to other dogs or people. I have visited the park 100's of times and have yet to encounter a "wicked dog." LSS... treat your dog to a visit to Good Dog park it's like taking them to...

This place is an AMAZING spot for you to bring your dog (and kids). It's a GREAT moderate walk to the river. There are a number of off-leash trails to get you there. Heads up - grab a bunch of sticks before getting to the river. The shore side has been cleaned of low hanging branches. Owners toss sticks in the river and the dogs jump in, fighting the current to get to the stick and back onto shore for the next throw. What a great concept to exhurt your animals energy. We travel full-time and I'm sure this is one of the best dog parks we have ever been to. We recommend it. PS Watch for butterflies. We didn't see much this trip but found a bunch of caterpillars :) Big giant ones.

I’ve been traveling across the country; bringing my best friend to every dog park that we can find. This is the best and most unique experience for both Tedward Scissorpaws and me. It is miles of off-leash trails; some of which lead to a river beach. On the 1-1.25 mile walk to thd river, your dog will meet other dogs; chase, frolic, and wrestle with other friendly dogs. Once you get to the river, there will be tons more dogs; playing, fetching, chasing, etc. It is awesome. Best time seems to be between 7:30am and 10:00am.

This is by far the best dog walking park I’ve ever been to. It was great to bring our English Bulldog out to get acclimated with other dogs and humans. A couple must haves if it’s your first time. I use the AllTrails App. So I don’t get lost. There are a lot of trails. Bring water and a collapsible bowl for your pup. It’s a walk to the river. Depending on the breed of dog I suppose. Ours gets hot quick. Overall it was a great place with lots of friendly dogs and people. Just what we were looking for.
