Best time to see elk is early morning and then a couple hours before sunset. We saw these and many others on the roads leading to and around Dents Run Elk Viewing area and Winslow Hill viewing area. Close to dusk was best as they come out when the temperatures cool down to eat grass in back yards and open fields. This was pre-rut so I am sure it may change. We heard at least two different Bulls bugle, even though it was on August 11, 2017. Amazing to see these wild creatures so close.

Beautiful day and area to go visit, in hopes of seeing some elk. Sadly it was not a good day for them to be out in the fields, it was hot and muggy. We did see about 10 deer in total, beautiful views and amazing skies that day. Lots of places to pull over to get out and look, stretch your legs or take photos.

This was my first elk sighting and it took my breath away. I knew they would be large but when I saw one in a resident's yard (close to the road we were on), I couldn't believe just how large they really are. If you go be sure to look everywhere - especially large grassy fields!

I’ve never been to this area of my state and figured I should check this out while in the area. The experience was amazing! Managed to hear lots of bugling and viewed multiple elk. There was even a bull laying in a field close by we were able to get a closer view of. (It helps to visit during rut) Please note: there will be noisy people (we had some screaming children while there) and vehicles which can possibly spook the elk. Also, the fields are further away so elk will not be super close. You will be viewing them at a distance so good binoculars and zoom camera lenses are strongly suggested. It is a cute little spot to...

Beautiful scenery! I wish the people not from the area would adhere to the signs though. There are these designated areas to park in and view the elk from a safe distance. People are just stopping on the road or pulling into people's driveways who live in the area. I saw people just sitting on people's porches... Trespassing! That part was a shame. but when you remove all the idiocy from the equation it truly is a beautiful area and the elk are a...
