Lake Paran is a place of deep nostalgia for me, although I once broke my foot running on the Robert Frost Trail 😂.
There are a variety of family-friendly events that happen here throughout the year - I have attend both the International Stone-Throwing Championship and Persian New Year celebrations near the Access Area.
It is easy to take a canoe out into the water, slide down the "natural" water slide on the other end of the lake, or walk over the entire length when the lake is frozen over in the winter (a lot of people go ice-fishing or plunging during this time).
It is easy to lose track of time at Lake Paran, especially in the hazy goodness of the golden hour. I have cried, sang, danced, rejoiced, contemplated, and finished epic novels at this ecological wonder.
I highly recommend anyone of any age to explore this vibrant corner of Southwestern Vermont. Just beware of getting a hook caught in your hair, the fisher folk out there...
