Excellent stop if you are traveling through the area. Like most herd/grazing animals, they are supposedly most active early in the morning or in the late afternoon early evening. We made a detour on a rainy day off I24 and didn't arrive until 10am. Was not expecting to see much (time/weather) but took a chance. Some bison were way back in the trees and not close for a photo. Saw Elk and bison and had a great break -- well worth the $5 and the time. Golden Pond Nature Center is nearby for a quick museum trip and maps!

This place is a great way to see Bison and Elk and several other animals. During our trip, we went here twice and got some amazing views of these beautiful animals. I read some reviews about not seeing anything, but please remember this is not a zoo. The animals are free to roam throughout and will retreat to shaded woods when it's hot. I'm glad this park has rules for people to stay a safe distance from the animals, because they are not pets. We will be back next time we're in the area!

Well worth the $5 entry fee. Take your time as you drive through, and you should be able to spot elk in the trees and bison on the open prairie. You can drive the circle as many times as you like. There are several places that you can get out of your vehicle when safe to do so, and check out some interpretive plaques.

We enjoyed driving thru this area. When we were ready to start going in some kind people on the way out told us where we might spot some elk otherwise it's likely we would not have seen them. We spotted the elk where they said they were and got some decent photos of cows and one bull with antlers. The bison were easier to spot and were just enjoying the mild weather. It's easily worth the $5 entry fee but you have to take your time as the elk are hard to spot if they are just...
