Fantastic experience!
Everyone my family interacted with was friendly and helpful. In most cases the employees knew the answers to my questions immediately, and when they didn't they immediately volunteered to find the answer to my question.
Even the lift operators were friendly... Chatting as much as the brief interaction allowed. There was no hesitation to slow down the lifts for less experienced skiers, and their attitude was encouraging and supportive.
The entire staff/crew at both sites for this resort demonstrated willingness to do anything in their power to make our visit the best possible experience. As a specific example... Our 4 year old had a ski lesson on Saturday after which we mentioned to the instructor that we were going to bring the kids back Monday for another ski day. The instructor told us that she doesn't work Mondays, but if we scheduled a lesson for Monday before the end of the day (so she could plan) she would come in Monday so our 4 year old could have the same instructor for both of his lessons. I have rarely seen that type of dedication to the customer anywhere for anything.
We were initially hesitant to spend our money on season passes for this ski resort, but after our experiences so far this season we're sold on future seasons. I may be going overboard on my recommendation, but my 10 year old that decided skiing wasn't his thing 3 years ago has decided to give it another shot based on the attitude/encouragement of the staff so far...
Read moreBlackjack has gone seriously downhill. I reserved two ski instructors a week ahead of time. One for a 10 yr old and 1 for a 4yr old. Upon arriving, they couldn’t find my reservations… said they don’t DO ski instructors here. After a bit, the girl said no worries… he’d come over from Indianhead. After getting all the gear, getting the 4 yr old dressed and outside, she came back to say he would not come over to do the instructions. We could go over there or get a refund. I was not about to undress the 4yr old and start over. There is no longer a snack bar. Just the restaurant up stairs. Food WAS good. Not enough staff, and not very knowledgeable staff. Except Lori at the bar was great! I believe the staff is most likely overworked. Carpet is still old, bubbled (tripping hazard) carpet from years ago. Just overly disappointed. Wanted Grandsons 1st ski experience...
Read moreJust found out that we have to cancel our yearly trip and hopefully reschedule into a different area because of new ownership at this location refusing to cooperate and allow snowmobile trail access. Further, they’re quoted as saying the don’t believe that snowmobiling is a family sport. Ironic that my family and I are ones impacted by their selfishness.
The U.P. Is full of small businesses that have to work together in order to maintain a suitable economy for tourism. Clearly this owner not only doesn’t care, but believes their business is exempt to that cooperation.
You’re not only hurting your business, here, but several communities. Snowmobiling, whether you like them or not, is a major economic contributor in your region during several months...
