I absolutely love this park and I have since I moved here many years ago. It is picturesque, serene, and because it is in a bit of a hollow, somewhat quiet. Dogs are allowed, but you best bring materials necessary to clean up otherwise be prepared to hear it from the rest of us dog walkers who do the right thing and clean up after our animals. Monocacy Park is beautiful because the people who visit care. There are plenty of trash cans. The park is a WPA (Works Public Administration) project that put out of work Americans to work to help our country escape the Great Depression. The park has been well-maintained and I must give some great credit to the people responsible for the major improvements made downstream of the dam to shore-up the banks of the river. We've had multiple high-water events since the flood improvements were made and damage has been minimal if at all. Great work folks. Swimming is prohibited. Waders for fishing are permitted. You should otherwise not be in the water. Monocacy Creek is a Class A trout stream. You may fish at the park but you must have a valid fishing license and you must use artificial bait or lures. Pavilions are rented though you can use them if they are not reserved but be prepared to move if a person has purchased pavilion use and you haven't. There are no open fires, but you can use the provided BBQ pits - bring your own charcoal. Although there are signs that say to not feed the waterfowl, I can't help myself and I keep duck food in my truck. Please don't give the animals bread, it can actually make ducks and geese ill. You can buy a bag of duck food for $15.99 on Amazon or $22.50 at...
Read moreI've always love going to knock Monacacy Park. The paths are a little rough at places. Still able to navigate around the park just got to watch walking the steps around the waterfall. It's not very big part but it still gives you all the park qualities pass water flowing ducks loading squirrels running up trees rabbits running around. Birds fine to the trees. The waterfall is most beautiful thing of the park which of course its main attraction. I like the shape of the park since you can't get lost or misguided it's a most part and circle layout. I love the smell of nature and the sounds that she makes a squirrel's the birds the ducks O my. No I'm employees to take care of me just mother nature watching over me. But I can tell that man does has it presents here since the trees are properly cut in the grasses trimmed as it should be. And the walkways are properly patched.
I've been going for 30 years and I still enjoy...
Read moreFind it highly disturbing that people come to this park and feed the fowl. They are going to cause these ducks and geese to pass or become severely ill. The park needs to put in trail cams and fine individuals weekly. I tried to explain to the elderly women they shouldn’t be feeding them bread they didn’t care they kept going im not a park official but there needs to be someone who visits daily to ensure that these laws and rules are enforced this was around 2:00pm the day I wrote this review. Please don’t feed them it makes it also harder for them to actually migrate as well because they will be expecting to be fed...
