I cannot recommend this solar observatory enough. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was struck by the sense of wonder and discovery that permeated the air.
The staff were knowledgeable, helpful, and always willing to answer my many questions. The telescopes and imaging equipment were top-of-the-line, providing unparalleled access to the sun and its many mysteries.
But it was not just the technical aspects that impressed me. The observatory's commitment to education and the advancement of knowledge was evident in every aspect of their work. As the great philosopher Plato once said, "Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion obtains no hold on the mind." And yet, despite the complexity of the subject matter, the staff at this observatory made the learning process enjoyable and engaging.

Read moreBeautiful little spot to take your paddle board. Park on the street near the water and take a quick 100m hike through the woods...bam, an uncrowded beach on even the busiest of days. I understand tours are available of the actual observatory, but due to C-19 they were not offered during our trip. If you have a kayak or paddle board, the walk is very manageable and worth it to get away from the crowds and paddle around the observatory and the man-made peninsula (Jeti? That thing Free Willy jumped over to escape at the end?). I'm sure if you're a nerd like me you'll enjoy a tour of the facility when it reopens. But for now, put on some sunscreen and check it out...
