If you value professionalism and expect a nursery to stand by their products, I strongly caution against shopping here. My experience has left me seething with disappoint and frustration, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this nursery to anyone. The utter lack of care and understanding I encountered is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. When I confronted Scott about the issue, his dismissive attitude made it clear my concerns was the last of his. He callously stated that they cannot control the outcome of new trees, as if that absolved them of any responsibility. While I accept this fact, what I cannot accept is their complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Other nurseries go above and beyond to rectify such issues, but this nursery seems either oblivious or apathetic to the concept.

I've been coming to roots every year for a reprieve from the winter blues... sitting in their greenhouse or by the fireplace, sipping on a latte while I work has just changed the way I feel about winters in Billings. This last year, I started homeschooling my nephew and when bringing him to roots for the afternoon, we had the BEST experiences and I wanted to highlight a particularly incredible employee. Amber not only started recognizing us each week, but soon my nephew(7) searched her out with every visit to ask her something else about plants. By the end of the year, we purchased quite a few things at Amber's recommendations, and my nephew wants "Roots Dates" with all his favorite family members. Thank you so much for providing such an epic community spot in Billings, and making my nephew feel so special.

Beautiful! My best friend and I stopped by to browse (just drove by, and it looked nice). Black Dog had just closed, but the garden center was still open, so of course we had to see everything, and there was A Lot to see! So many different types and sizes of plants, planters, decorations, etc. We ended up buying a few little things, but we will definitely be back for a drink and to keep browsing all of the cool stuff they have to offer!

Would rate this 5 starts but I really didn’t like the staffs attitudes. They never said hi welcome in or can I help you. The place is beautiful and this is my first time here. We did the terrariums and everywhere there are prices except nowhere does it state that you have to pay for the fillers, or the moss or soil that goes in there. They’re were clearly running out of the materials the soil was so dry.. really shouldn’t be planting with that soil. Their prices are insanely out of control. The prices just don’t make sense.. there’s a decent sized jar for $4 then another one that’s the same size for $20 with less sturdy glass. Then there’s a tiny one for an air plant the size of my pinky for nearly $7. We also didn’t know they were getting ready to close and instead of telling us they just started taking all the plants away then they turned off the lights and proceeded to lock people outside.. it doesn’t hurt to...

When our niece came in to town, I brought her here to do the build-your-own-terrarium, but they had it temporarily closed for painting. It had just rained so we walked all around, taking in all the scents of freshly rained on flowers and trees. She asked when the terrarium center would be back open and they said it would be another couple of hours, so they offered to set us up in the "Employees Only" work area to make our terrariums. We didn't want to be an imposition, so we respectfully declined. But they were so welcoming that they set up everything we would need in their employee area and insisted that we were no imposition at all. We accepted, and they engaged with us as we made them, told us how to take care of all these beautiful little succulents, and really made us feel as if we were no imposition at all. I have never experienced this kind of customer service anywhere. Absolutely the best staff, and a happy...

The atmosphere is absolutely amazing — peaceful, welcoming, and full of charm. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, always happy to offer guidance or plant advice.

My kids had a blast searching for hidden gnomes around the grounds and loved building their own terrariums — such a fun, hands-on experience that kept them totally engaged. I loved how there was truly something for everyone. The selection of plants is beautiful and well cared for, and Black Dog Coffee on-site is delicious — we enjoyed relaxing on the patio together over drinks.

A super cool and unexpected surprise was the vinyl section — such a unique twist that makes this place even more special. It’s also a perfect spot to find birthday gifts or little treasures — so many thoughtful, locally-minded items.

Roots isn’t just a garden center — it’s a community space, and we’re lucky to have it....
