We were a group of seven (sisters and daughters) celebrating our mother’s 60th Birthday. We were told that they are only allowing groups of six BUT would accommodate our group of seven. Great!! We booked a reservation and made this our first stop. However, we were sadly mistaken when we arrived. We were treated as a group of two (a 4 top and 3 top) and we’re seated in two different locations at the winery. We addressed our concern with the hosts that was also the manger. She stated that’s the best she could do (rudely). Ok, we separated our group and took a seat. Once, seated we realized there were empty tables, as well as, picnic tables in multiple locations. We asked our server if the other half of our group could be seated in our area. That group was willing to give up their beautiful view of the vineyard to sit in our area with the view of the tent. We were even willing to give up our tables to sit at the picnic tables. However, our offers were turned down and stated that they could lose their license because of social distancing guidelines. Ha, there was a (happy drunk) lady going around table to table toasting everyone with her wine glass (including our table) in front of the staff. The rude manager nor the wait staff stopped her from violating social distancing in their facility, how’s that ok but we can’t sit as a family?! We came TOGETHER as a family! Mawby wasn’t at 50% capacity or else they wouldn’t have even sat us all. Even with a group of seven plus our server would've still be within the governors guidelines of ten people in a small gathering. The communication of this establishment is poor at best. I understand this isn’t their normal practice due to COVID but open communication on what the accommodation of seven would look like is vital to those that are traveling to visit. Based on our experience, how we were treated and lack of communication this doesn’t even...

We were a party of 6 women (60-ish) that were having a Northern Michigan Girls Weekend. We hired a lovely lady (Designated Deb) to be our driver for the day so we could visit wineries, breweries and distilleries safely. Her dog-sitter canceled at the last minute so she brought her handsome little dachshund Cashmere along for the ride. We arrived at Mawby Winery a couple of minutes after noon without a reservation because we checked their website and they had openings. The woman that greeted us was not pleased with us not having a reservation and acted as if we may not get in even though there were very few guests there. We all thought she was very rude. We were seated and enjoyed a flight of their wines. Deb and Cashmere came in (outside deck) to check on us and take a couple of pictures for us, as she did at each stop, and was told Cashmere wasn’t allowed. She showed the woman her letter from her doctor stating that she had a condition that required her to have a service dog and they still insisted she leave. She did. And we should have left with her. As she was walking back to her vehicle another woman came running after her rudely insisting that she tell her what tour company she worked for so that they could report her! Deb is self employed so no issue for her. The winery was beautiful, the host that sat us was very entertaining and the wine was enjoyable- but those rude women really put crimp in our experience. But if you’d like a wonderful, knowledgeable, fairly priced driver call...

The parking lot was packed when we arrived. We were met by a sweet lady who informed us that Mawby was on a wait but we could stop into Big Little to share some wine while we waited. We put our name in with Schu who let us know it would be about 30 minutes. After splitting a bottle of Mixtape at Big Little our table was ready at Mawby. Schu sat us and brought our complimentary tastes of Sandpiper and let us know Flournoy would be taking care of us. Start to finish the team was nothing short of excellent. We shared a lot of laughs, which after the funeral we attended was much welcomed. I had joined the Fizz club on my last visit and Flournoy happily picked us 3 flights to split among our table of five. I cannot recommend this place enough. The product is amazing, the views incredible, and the service top notch. We left with smiles all around. We can’t...

Their wines are excellent, unfortunately they won’t let you buy bottles for your table unless you sign up for their wine club which will cost you hundreds of dollars per year. It’s very strange to advertise bottles on your menu without actually being able to buy them for your table. Every other winery around lets you buy bottles, it’s just a little skeevy to try to suck every last ounce of money out of your customers like that by either only allowing them To purchase over priced glasses of wine, or having a stipulation that they must sign up for your wine club. I’ve been here several times but after this last visit I won’t be returning unfortunately.

Dave, the Hospitality Director, is fantastic—he truly made our experience exceptional. He goes above and beyond, and honestly, deserves a raise. The wines were solid across the board, but the standout for me was the “sandpainting” Champagne-method wines. Once they warmed up a bit in the glass, they showed real complexity and impressive length. I bought some back vintages they had in the back to compare. The vibes? Immaculate. Highly recommend all around.
