Read moreI love spending time on Hoover. If the fishing isn't great the paddling always is. Highly recommended for anglers and paddlers. There are several manual ramps as well as full on ramps and marinas.
Always a beautiful time. The bluegill are feisty, the cats are deep, and the crappie are plentiful. If Wildlife is your thing you can regularly see bald eagles, red tail hawks, egrets, and blue herron.
Lots of bank space and parking for enjoying the space or bank fishing. Several bike and walking paths around the reservoir.
Most parks and parking close at 11pm. I don't know of any swimming areas.

The issue is that the picture used to describe the park on Google doesn't showcase the cool wooded trails you can run or walk your dog on or the waterway you can sit and look at or boat/fish on.. Honestly the concrete damn/walkway pictured is the least appealing aspect of this park .. Great if you want to run up and down a steep hill or back and fourth on concrete for exercise but I prefer the more scenic natural trail myself. There's some really nice benches to have a picnic or put up a hammock in the pictures...
