AVOID! PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP ONLY and infested with fleas/mosquitoes!!
I brought my dog on vacation with me to the Chicago area from San Francisco, California. I have discovered that regardless of all the open land in the suburban areas of Chicago, most places are not dog friendly— unless they are made out of porcelain (Flossmore). I searched for a dog park that wasn’t too far away and did find one in Homewood. From their website, it looked like a lovely place. Unfortunately, The Rover’s Run dog park is private; the website does not mention anything about it being private or being members only. I don’t think this state is friendly or accepting for people with dogs, I think it’s focus is for ripping off property owners and other people with money. The Homewood Dog Park Members also really need to invest in some pest control. I am standing and writing this in the area directly outside of the locked gated dog run; it is infested with mosquitoes and fleas. We pulled off after finding this dog park on Google, to give our two dogs a chance to stretch their legs and get a break from the car only to find a code protected entrance with no alternative.
