Such a beautiful place. To bad my bridal session was ruined by two hateful and extremely rude employees. We drove over two hours, AFTER calling the day before to make sure bridal portraits were allowed. The gentleman on the phone told me it was perfectly fine to take pictures on the porch, and on the grounds as long as we didn’t have a party of 10 or 15 people. We were a party of three. We arrived at 9:20am and started the shoot on the porch so that we could be long done with the porch when they open at 10am. Staff member #1 saw this and ran out of the house, screamed at us that we were not allowed to take pictures there because it may be disruptive to others. There was one other couple on the porch, sitting in the rocking chairs at this time. That couple even congratulated me. (Clearly not disturbing them) At 9:30am we were gathering my dress to go down the front steps and off the porch when Employee #2 came out, with Employee #1 and announced BRIDAL portraits were NOT allowed at Moses Cone! While to the left of us a photographer was taking photos of a child and mother playing in the leaves. Nothing was ever said to them. I want to thank these ladies for interrupting and ruining what was supposed to be a happy and exciting experience for me. So beware of taking Bridal pictures at this public place! P.S. Tons of Bridal Portraits have been taken at Moses Cone, just google it. What a joke...
Read moreThe Moses Cone Manor offers an exceptional overlook that is truly a sight to behold. The panoramic views are breathtaking, providing a serene and picturesque experience that captures the essence of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's a perfect spot for photography, a peaceful picnic, or simply taking in the natural beauty.
The trails leading up to the top of Rich Mountain are well-maintained and provide a rewarding hike. The journey through lush forests and along scenic paths is invigorating, and the summit delivers stunning vistas that make the effort worthwhile. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a pleasant walk, these trails offer something for everyone.
However, one downside to the visit is the condition of the bathrooms. They are not well-kept and could use significant improvement. While this might not be a dealbreaker for everyone, it's something to be aware of, especially if you're planning a longer stay at the site.
Overall, the Moses Cone Manor and Rich Mountain trails are highly recommended for their natural beauty and excellent hiking opportunities, despite the less-than-ideal...
Read moreThough this is a beautiful park, during Covid it is not anywhere you’d want to be if you’re trying not to get the Delta variant. The workers here are not in any way ensuring that anyone is wearing a mask inside bathrooms and when I addressed it with one of them, I was told I could use the port o John which I would have done if there had not been signs on the bathroom doors saying people were required to mask to enter. When I was suddenly wedged into a small bathroom with non maskers, I explained to them and the parks worker I have had 3 family members die from Covid and I don’t want to be #4. That’s when the parks worker snidely told me I could use the port o John. If you go here and are trying to be mindful about Covid in any way, do not go into any buildings. It is dismaying to be an NC taxpayer to have simple safety measures that would save my life not be followed at a government park like this one.
Parks services- DO NOT put that masks are required on your website or on your buildings when it is a lie, then at least we know what we...
